It was meant to be a one-night stand. One night of passion. Scorching-hot. Then Beth Cantrell and Eric Donovan were supposed to go their separate ways. That’s the only reason he lied about his name, telling her he was really his wild younger brother. Hiding his identity as the conservative Donovan. The "good" one.

I love a good romance but I found the dialogue and story line.... ridiculous.... and had little patience for this story. I did not listen to the second part of the book.....

Instead of saying "I do" to Mr. Irresistible, Lucy Jorik hitches a ride on the back of a beat-up motorcycle with a rough looking, bad-tempered stranger who couldn't be more foreign to her privileged existence. While the world searches for her, Lucy must search for herself, and she quickly realizes that her customary good manners are no defense against a man who's raised rudeness to an art form. Lucy needs to toughen up - and fast. Her great escape takes her to his rambling beach house on a Great Lakes island. Here, she hopes to find a new direction...and to unlock the secrets of this man who knows so much about her.

I love Susan Elizabeth Phillips when I am looking for something fun, light and that does not require heavy thinking. Her characters are likable and I enjoy following characters across a series. This book did not disappoint!

In the humorous, heartfelt new novel by the author of The Next Thing on My List, a personal organizer must somehow convince a reclusive artist to give up her hoarding ways and let go of the stuff she’s hung onto for decades.

I took advantage of a sale to purchase a few books and authors previously unknown to me. I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this book. A lighter "read" with some interesting characters and story line.

This was my first time listening to the narrator and I enjoyed her performance.

I would happily listen to this book again and feel lucky to have happened upon a great book at a great price.

They were complete strangers searching for the same thing - solitude. But thanks to a matchmaking friend, Deirdre Joyce and Neil Hersey found themselves stranded on an island off the coast of Maine. Forced to coexist, they discovered there was no escaping the inevitable - irresistible attraction. The idea of living alone again was unimaginable, and so a marriage of "convenience" seemed like the perfect solution - he would run her family's company, and she would pursue her career.

CAROLYN says: "A light-hearted and enjoyable romance."

What disappointed you about The Real Thing?

I found the characters annoying, the dialogue simplistic and the story ridiculous. I can tolerate and even enjoy a ridiculous story if the writing is clever but I found this piece to be a disappointing experience.
