This was a fun book...a good escape. Adventures and alternate universes and Nicola Tesla-built machines and beers on the roof deck. Light and fun.
Nate, the main character, is a fun guy; likable.
This was a fun book; an easy listen.
Every book in the Royal Spyness series is light and fun and the characters are well drawn. Katherine Kellgren does a wonderful job of narrating the story. She gives each character a different voice and her accents are terrific.
Another fun story from Pip Ballantine & Tee Morris. Fun story. Well narrated. I'm looking forward to the next one when it comes out!
The Royal Spyness mysteries are light and fun and well performed. A delightful listen!
This was another good entry in the series. I got a little tired of the seemingly constant and endless battles but it was overall a fun book.
This book hits the ground running and doesn't stop until the very end. It's almost one big, long epic battle.
This series is just plain fun. The characters are well drawn and the story is monsters and guns and action.
Oliver Wyman turns in another terrific performance in "Vendetta". He is able to give each character his/her own 'voice' complete with accent and inflection. Further, his 'voices' are consistent across this series of books. For example, Earl Harbinger's voice sounds the same in all the books. Mr. Wyman's talent brings the book to life.
This is definitely a fun book and series. It's got action and humour and monsters and guns. Who could ask for more? LOL
As much as I love Owen Pitt, the main character--a really decent man; genuine and kind and with a good heart--the character of Mordechai, Owen's 'ghost', was my favourite in this book. Oliver Wyman's portrayal of him was fun and sweet and the character is just a neat guy.
To me, this book is brain candy. It's full of action and thrills but overall it's light and fun. In other words, it's a good escape!
Fun steam punk.
Mr. Langton's performance of Wellington Books is spot on; he perfectly embodies Books.
Light and fun, this is a good brain-candy kind of book.
I will definitely listen to this one again. Fun and exciting story line, fun characters, lots of 80s references.
Wil Wheaton gave a good performance and it was easy to see him as the main character, Wade/Parzival. His performance was nuanced with the emotions and tensions that the characters were feeling. Nicely done.
I didn't want to pause while listening to this book. Even though I knew from the beginning how it ended (since the narrator told us early on that he was the winner of the game), I was still on tenterhooks during the game scenes and the final battle.
Just an all-around fun and exciting book...especially for those of us who grew up in the 80s. I could identify with both Halliday and Wade. Very cool!
I believe that Kathryn Stockett captured very well the racial tension of the early 1960s in the South. Her characters are well defined and beautifully drawn--and not just the three main characters of Aibileen, Minny and Skeeter. They are wonderful and strong women, role models in many ways.Ms. Stockett also created a terrific antagonist in Hilly Holbrook. Hilly's need to maintain her pretentious position as de facto Queen of the Ladies' League at all costs and her hatred of anyone not like her are palpable things that colour her words and inform everything she says and does.
Two things: The relationship that forms between Minny and Miss Celia is a transformative experience for both of them. Also, the scene in the church when the book is presented to Aibilieen...just beautiful.
Each of these performances is top-notch. I've only seen Octavia Spencer on-screen but now that I've heard her read, I'll be looking for other books that she narrates.
I laughed a lot and cried many times.
Listen to this book. The performances are superb and the story is beautiful. You won't regret it.
