I enjoyed the story and the adventure. Really liked all of the detailed background information. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is that some of the scenes and things they encountered were a bit grousoome - but I will continue to listen to his other books.

I was completely taken with this book. I couldn't stop listening to it. I think I finished it up in two days.

Collapse is the first of what is supposed to be a four novel series - though with all the storylines set up in the first book I have to wonder i there won't be more than four.

Collapse follows three main characters and many minor characters as the USA falls apart due to natural and man-made disasters and attacts. Stephenson takes us on a detailed exploration of the main characters, dipping into their pasts which builds a rich understanding of what makes Howard, Max, and Richard tick. As we get more involved with their world, and learn how the Collapse happened, we see the three main characters slowly being drawn to the same place. It may seem like a whole book is a lot to use to get to the final point of the book - but the stories are so beautiful woven together that you just have to enjoy the journey. It's been a very long time since a "world" that was created by an author made me want to know more and more of what's happening. I'm so looking forward to the sequel after reading the first few chapters of it.

I'm pretty sure I've found a new author to add to my "must read" list.

The only minor critique I have has to do with the production. I had a bit of a problem understanind what was being said when the "loud speaker" sound effect was used. And I was just confused by the name of one of the characters. It's been a long time since my high school Spanish classes but I thought "Jimenez" should be pronounced with an "H" sound. As I said, it's minor and I wouldn't ding the performance for just that.

I'm a long-time fan of James Rollins and have been waiting for this book since he first mentioned it. The book is incredible. There is an intimacy about the book that brings the characters to life as we find out their background stories. It made me care for what at first might seem to be at least one unsympathetic character.

When I first heard that there might be the "v" word type of characters in the book I has hesitant to read it - but I have read everything by Rollins so couldn't let this one go by. I was not disappointed. Well, my only disappointment is that I have to wait a year for the second part of the trilogy.

My one problem (minor) is with the narrator. He does some incredible accents - but some of them are so heavy that I have a hard time understanding what the character is saying. I think when I relisten to the book (prior to the second part coming out) I may have a copy of the book to refer to so I know what is being said. But this is certainly not a reason not to listen to it.

I can't say enough good things about this book. Maybe I will just go ahead and re-listen to it. It was that good.

The story comes to an incredible end. I listened late into the night to see what happened. This will definately be a series that I re-listen to and I hope that down the line we will be able to meet up with the main characters.

A real treat.

I'm so glad that I found this series when the first three books were already published. I hate to wait for the "next book."

The story is great and the narration is wonderful. I can't ask for anything more in a book or series.

I really liked this book a lot. It was so creative and I really liked the two main characters - though the way Serena called Conrad's name at times sounded like she was yelling "Comrade."

And to add to the enjoyment of the story is Scott's performance. He is one of my top three narrators. He brings so much to the story.

A great start to what turns into a great series. I would love to meet the characters again in the future.

James Rollins is one of my favorite authors and he didn't disappoint mewith Bloodline. The cast of characters, especially the Signma Group, are like old friends that take me on a whild ride with each new book. I learn so much during the adventure. And as always, there's a hook at the end of the book that makes want to know - when is the next book coming out?

I've enjoyed this trilogy very much. The first two books are so different and unique - even from each other. The only reason I didn't give the book a 5 star rating for the story is that I was expecting something "more" from the ending. Even though I read other reviews that mentioned that the ending seemed somewhat rushed, it didn't keep me from reading the book. I just wish there had been a few more chapters.

It's still one of my favorite series and in about a year I will listen to all three books in a row and it might give me a different outlook on the ending.

This book is definately not for the squimish - lots of very violent scenes. What is interesting about this book is how there's so much humor that had me laughing out loud. It's not overdone but is used skillfully to balance the more intense moments.

The narrator has a great gift for creating good male characters voices, but I was not impressed with the female voices he did. Also, in his non-dialogue narration his own accent was a bit too much for my taste in narrators - though I've read that he is a favorite of many listeners.

I can't remember the last time a book had me in tears at the end, but this one did. The story was something so different than I could have imagined and was impossible to stop listening to. There are some rough scenes to get through, but by the time you're done listening to the book you understand why they had to be that way. I so hope that this is the beginning of a series. Also, the narration is perfect, but I haven't listen to a book read by Scott Brick that I haven't loved - and sometimes seek out books that he narrates because of his great talent at bringing the stories to life.
