"Quality of Recording is Bad"
If you can get past the horrible quality of the recording and if you like Alex Cross...this is where we first meet him.
"Huh???"
I liked the narration which is why I stuck with it but this book has left me wondering...huh? Make sure you are into techy type talk before downloading this book. It's sort of tech meets sci-fi meets indie. I liked the first half of the book but it jumped the shark mid-way and lost me.
"Prequel Not As Good As Sequel"
I didn't like this prequel to Savages. I feel like I had a better understanding of the characters had I not listened to The Kings of Cool. The story was really complicated and there were a ton of characters that I never really got a handle on...in other words it sort of just went in one ear and out the other.
"Couldn't Make It"
I love what I've read of Laura Lippman but just couldn't get into this one. As a matter of fact I'm pretty underwhelmed by the one Tess Monahan book I've downloaded as well. Sad to think Lippman is not consistent because all her books are intriguing to me but I've steered away from any of her titles since failing to make it through this one.
My biggest complaint is that the beginning is fairly difficult to follow and with audiobook that is bad news for these ears. I felt like that with the other Lippman books that I've finished but for some reason those titles hooked me before it was too late...this one did not and I moved on.
"Not Impressed"
I really don't know what all the fuss is about with this book but I was immediately bored and remained bored throughout. There is one big reveal in the book and it does not warrant the rest of the book to be so boring. I'd pass on this one if I could go back in time...but I can't...so here I am.
"Not Grisham's Best"
While I was pretty captivated by the plot, I still didn't think this was one of Grisham's best. I suppose it's still worth a listen though.
"Least Favorite Will Trent - Bad Narrator"
I did not like Shannon Cochran's performance in this book. She was so off when it came to capturing Will Trent's tones and mannerisms. She made him playful and cute in a comedian sort of way which I didn't like one bit. Her read ruined the book for me. Thank god for Criminal because I would have been negative about the whole series which I really enjoyed. Too bad they made such an awful choice...if it ever gets re-recorded I would have a man read it, reverting back to the sex of the first two books narrators.
"Surprised and Impressed"
I really liked this book. I kept checking the plot summary at the beginning to see if I was listening to the right book. It takes a lot of interesting twists and turns, once in awhile I had to back track 30 sec or a minute just to make sure I was following. I'm glad all the pieces fell into place seamlessly for me as the reader because I ended up really liking the book. Great plot.
"Feeling Good and Crying in my Car"
This is a feel good story with nothing too substantial to review about. I like a good, "pull yourself up" story so I enjoyed it but that's pretty much it. I cried a lot...but I'm a sap when it comes to empowerment stories.
"Very Interesting Plot"
I am definitely going to read more Laura Lippman. I enjoyed this book very much and the narrator was fantastic. The story line was well-thought out and filled in all the details in a perfect way for the reader. Very nicely developed.
"Love a good Short Story"
Stephen King is so good at the short story and this is no exception. I had a short road trip and I literally timed it perfectly so the book was ending just as I was pulling into the driveway of my family's summer home....kind of spooky. Love it.
