For a class I had to read / listen to this book. It may have been to the point back when it was written. But now I do not see the worth. Examples he uses ironically had to be bailed out by the government when our economy crashed. So it is really good advise? In this economy I think a lot of books will need to be rewritten - unless you have to read this for class, I would pass
the stories are interesting and well written. the narrator does a nice job. Im not a huge fan of this series.
the book takes a little time to get rolling, but once it does its a good story. im glad the chairman and his crew finally got published, this series seems to take longer to publish than some of the other cussler series.
I just got back from 2 weeks in London as I began listening to this book. Perfect timing, Berry incorporates so many places I saw into this book. Its worth the read. One of the castles in the book I did not see, but looked up in my London book and am now upset I didnt get there. It's an interesting tail that I understand after 2 weeks in London. Truth is the mystery could be told in 3 chapters but the sights and scenes of London make the unabridged version worth it.
If your a Cussler, Numa, Kurt Austin and Dirk Pitt fan then this book is for you. I love Cussler and the NUMA stories. On a scale of 10 Id give it an 8. Go for it!
This is not one of his better works, His main charcter seems not as in the picture as normal. I got the feeling he is developing 2 new characters for his new books and story lines. It is kinda slow. But for all of its negitives. I had no idea that the Federal Reserve was not a part of the government and for that reason and how it is explained it is worth listening too. If all of the facts he shares in this book about the Federal Reserve are true then it is shocking to realize that the Fed is not a governmental agency. Shocking and Scary
I waited and waited for this book to take off and get good and exciting but it never did. And I sit here stunned this book is getting such great reviews. The story is not that exciting. Jake does a great job reading the book. The story is well written by someone with a very good knowledge of the english language. I expected so much more based on the reviews of others. I was wrong. Save your money for the movie version of this one.
This was very interesting, I dont remember learning any of these events during history class in high school. A very good and well paced book to listen to. I was concerned that Bill OReilly would sound like he does on TV(somewhat confrontational) but he did a really good job narrating the book. I enjoyed it and would recommend it.
I had to stop listening to the book, because the narrator was so hard to understand. Not that its a British voice but, its hard to understand when the story changes scenes. It is very confusing to listen to. I do not recommend this.
Such a great mix of understanding life in the 1900's. Cussler is so great at it. I was concerned when I read that the book goes back in time, to bell as a new PI, but at the end of the book it jumps into Bell's later days. A very good story. and Scot Brick is just the best. No question.
i was find with book 2 except they used another narrator, which makes it harder especially if you go right from book 1 to book 2. Otherwise I like it. Even though it was easy to see guess who the bad guy was early on in the book
