"Interesting topic but a boring book"
I listened to the first two hours and then started to skip forward but it did not seem to get any better. I have bought many books from Blackstone Audiobooks and they have all been good or very good. These predictions of the future did nothing to spark my imagination and were generally uninteresting. I have about 30 books in my wish list and I had to spend a credit on this.
"Loved the games and loved the book"
This was a surprisingly suspensful story, everybody who is familiar with Doom and Quake should be interested in the story behind the games. I was one of those who were waiting (and waiting and waiting) for John Romero's Daikatana and I finally gave up waiting, now I know what happened!!! The reader gives such a great performance that the book is elevated to a new level. I really liked this one.
"Great Classic Story Telling"
I have not listend to any other books in the Dark Tower series exept this one. At the beginning I thought I had made a mistake but after about 2 hours the story just sucked me in. I would like to get more books in the series but I would like to start with number 1 (The Gunslinger) and it is not available at the moment (please do something about this Audible!). The story is quite interesting and I must say that I liked it a lot. The author reads it himself and I kind of wished he had not done that. He actually did it quite well but I found myself comparing him to the late and great Frank Muller and he was just one of a kind. Rest in peace Frank, you still live on millions of Ipods.
"Best book on Audible by a bass player!"
Yes I guess so because it has some additional information that the written edition does not have (I think)
Funny stories from the music bussiness
The author does a good job reading the book
Everything to do with basses, I'm a bass player myself
I've been looking for stories about (and by) bass players and this is very entertaining book, and it's only 5.95! Buy it if you like music.
"This is just horrible"
Not from Burt no!!!
Burt sounds like he is drunk or stoned. I am a fan of Connelly but the quality of this recording is so bad it's unbearable.
This just makes me angry, I want my money back!!!
"It surprised me in a good way"
I don't know what I was thinking when I bought this book, I didn't realize it was so much poetry but I gave it a shot and much to my surprice I thought it was really good. The readers are very good and poems/prose like Letter to My Son by Luis J. Rodriguez are incredibly moving. I liked this book and it has probably given my some insight into a world I did not know much about (and into the hearts of men)
"Worst book ever"
This book is incredibly bad and stupid. I really don't have words to describe how bad it is, it does not deserve the one star I am forced to give it, it is boring, incredibly stupid and the actors are horrible. Audible should not put crap like this on offer, shame on them. Stay away from this book.
"Not bad"
Chuck comes across as a pretty nice guy, meek and reasonable. If you like his movie and want to know more this is not a bad choice.
"Very, very good. Exquisite as cured shark!"
You will love this book or hate it. It is a bit like cured shark, you will either spit it out or learn to love it. If you like this book then this is just the start of an audio adventure that is about 100 hours!
"Not quite interesting enough."
This book is unfortunately not what I was hoping for, if this is the best book about the discovery of artifacts of alien intelligence since Rendezvous with Rama then keep artifacts of alien intelligence away from me please (I thought Rama was a masterpiece by the way). I thought Engines of God was rather boring and things did not quite add up for me. To be fair I really enjoyed the last hour or so but that leaves 14 hours that I did not particularly like. This could have made a good short story or the slow start of a long space opera. I would like to see somebody with firepower take on these Omega-clouds but I don't think I'll stick around, I just didn't like the characters well enough. Too slow and not interesting enough.
"Great vampire story"
I liked this one, no pretty vampires suffering from existential crisis, just disgusting evil things. It has a lot of atmosphere and I will get the sequel when it comes. It owes a lot to Dracula of course but so do most stories in that genre. Ron Pearlman does a good job. Feels like watching a scary vampire movie.
