Molly Allen lives alone in Portland, but her heart is back in Franklin, Tennessee, where five years ago she walked away from a man she cannot forget, a rare sort of love she hasn’t found since. Ryan Kelly lives in Franklin and spends plenty of time at The Bridge - the oldest bookstore in historic downtown Franklin - remembering the long hours he and Kelly once spent there. Now, Ryan and Molly’s favorite bookstore is in trouble....

Would you try another book from Karen Kingsbury and/or January LaVoy?

    No.

    Any additional comments?

This is a simplistic religious novel. Because the publisher's summary does not disclose its religious bent, it masquerades as a romantic Christmas story. I will not buy another audio book without googling the author.

Rebecca has been catapulted from her home, her marriage, and her children. She has escaped to Pawleys Island to hide herself from herself. But after Miss Olivia pries Rebecca's secrets from her, Huey and especially Abigail are challenged to reenter life outside the dream state their idyllic geography evokes. They will see that Rebecca has her day in court, but they never expect to provoke a national forum for discussion.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The author narrated this book. There is only one word for her performance: AWFUL!!!! A talented narrator would have improved this audio book 100%. Don't know if a change in narrator would have made this audio book at 4 or 5, however. The story was banal.

Has Pawleys Island turned you off from other books in this genre?

I won't buy anymore books by this author.

What didn’t you like about Dorothea Benton Frank’s performance?

She does a poor job of narrating. All the characters sound the same and her delivery is very poor.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Disappointment and irritation..

  • Blue Christmas

It's the week before Christmas, and antiques dealer Weezie Foley is in a frenzy to deck out her shop for the Savannah historical district decorating contest, which she intends to win. Weezie is ready to shoot herself with her glue gun by the time she's done, but the results are stunning. She's certainly one-upped the owners of the trendy shop around the corner, but suddenly things start to go missing from her display and there seems to be an uninvited midnight visitor to her shop.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

    I would change the narrator.

How could the performance have been better?

The narrator spoiled this book. Bebe (with long a's)--the main character's best friend from the first Savannah book--became BEE BEE. The characters in this southern book did not have southern accents...not even poor ones. All the male characters sounded alike and female characters did not have consistent voices. I would love to buy more Mary Kay Andrew's audio books, but not when Ms. Keating is the narrator.

Was Blue Christmas worth the listening time?

I could not enjoy the story of this book because the narration was so poor.

    Any additional comments?

I loved Savannah Blues and was excited to find this sequel. Unfortunately, I did not believe the narrator reviews. Does the author have no input on who narrates her stories. Can't believe, if she did, that Ms. Keating would have narrated so many of her books.

Will Robie may have just made the first - and last - mistake of his career.... It begins with a hit gone wrong. Robie is dispatched to eliminate a target unusually close to home in Washington, D.C. But something about this mission doesn't seem right to Robie, and he does the unthinkable: He refuses to kill. Now, Robie becomes a target himself and must escape from his own people.

Fleeing the scene, Robie crosses paths with a wayward teenage girl, a 14-year-old runaway from a foster home. But she isn't an ordinary runaway....

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

    No one.

Would you ever listen to anything by David Baldacci again?

I have thoroughly enjoyed several of Baldacci's books. I would listen to one of his books again.

What three words best describe Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy ’s voice?

    acceptable, average, OK

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Innocent: A Novel?

I would find a much better way to bring the two plots in the book together. The story of a 14 year old girl and an assassin for the U.S. government, main characters in separate murder plots, who meet on a bus is an intruging one. Unfortunately, the explanation for the converging plots is not believable and stretches the reader's suspension of disbelief too far to be enjoyed.

    Any additional comments?

This one is a waste of time and money.
