    DrivenThoughtful Interesting

Which character – as performed by Scott Brick – was your favorite?

All I buy books based on the reader first and the author second, I know that is strange but I have falling in love with a few more books this way and found authors like Meltzer this way.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not really moved me but one that stood out was when the Archivist was looking out his window that was interesting kind of an Ahhh moment. Sorry no spoilers….

    Any additional comments?

Enjoyed this book and will look forward to reading the next installment. Funny I normally pick books based on the reader first and then the story. Scott Brick is one of the best I have heard and really look forward to his reading. Meltzer really loves history and looks at it sideways which is really interesting. It is actually really cool to learn something from a fiction book.

1870. A time known as The Great Killing. The vampire clans arose and slaughtered humanity with unprecedented carnage in the northern parts of the world. Millions perished; millions were turned into herd animals. The great industrialized civilizations of the world were left in ruin. A remnant fled south to the safety of the ever present heat which was intolerable to vampires. There, blending with the local peoples, they rebuilt their societies founded on human ingenuity, steam and iron.

Not a bad story it was hard to get past the beginning which was a little slow going and many times I wanted to just stop... but I kept going and was well worth it. If you like steampunk you might like this. I enjoyed this and have moved on to the next in line.

Not so very long ago, Eragon - Shadeslayer, Dragon Rider - was nothing more than a poor farm boy, and his dragon, Saphira, only a blue stone in the forest. Now the fate of an entire civilization rests on their shoulders. months of training and battle have brought victories and hope, but they have also brought heartbreaking loss. And still, the real battle lies ahead: they must confront Galbatorix. When they do, they will have to be strong enough to defeat him. And if they cannot, no one can.

    Story

When this book first came out I read all of the reviews and actually listened to them, boy was that a mistake. I left the book on my wish list and figured it would stay there for the foreseeable future since the reviews had me scratching my head. I am so glad I did not remove it. As I write this review I think folks are going to read this and wonder just what is he on about or what makes him a worthwhile reviewer. To be honest I listen to books because I have Dyslexia and it is difficult for me to read for a long time, that and I lose myself in books. When I start the iPhone app (sorry for the plug) I do just that I lose myself in the stories and it is a great feeling. When I listened to this and the rest of the books I was transformed to Alagaësia. Funny thing was; I found myself thinking about the story when I wasn’t listening and thinking just how is Paolini going to play everything out.

To take time to write a review is a big deal for me and to write one for this book was important especially because of the negative one’s I saw when the book first came out in 2011. The bottom line is that this book was well worth your time and I do feel if you have listened to the first three than you are going to see this is a great ending to this series. If you have not read the first three I would suggest investing in those books and enjoy the adventure that Eragon, Saphira and the rest will take you on. Alagaësia is a wonderful place to get lost in for a few hours at least.

To survive in a game with no rules at all, John Corey must invent a strategy that includes no luck at all. He and the Anti-Terrorist Task Force must stop "The Lion," an alleged Libyan terrorist with the instincts of a wild animal, the bloodlust of a carnivore, and the boldness and speed of a cat of prey. And listen to Mayday, by DeMille and Thomas Block, the most terrifyingly realistic air disaster thriller of all time.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

My time was spent well, I would not say that I was in a hurry to finish it as it did drag on a bit.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

    READ IT YOUR SELF

    Which scene was your favorite?

Have to say the Central Park and the groaning from the backup.

Did The Lion's Game inspire you to do anything?

    Nope

    Any additional comments?

A bit long and drawn out, enjoyed more of John Cory than the bad guy.

Under the direction of famed explorer Porter Stone, an archaeological team is secretly attempting to locate the tomb of an ancient pharaoh who was unlike any other in history. Stone believes he has found the burial chamber of King Narmer, the near mythical god-king who united upper and lower Egypt in 3200 B.C., and the archaeologist has reason to believe that the greatest prize of all - Narmer's crown - might be buried with him. No crown of an Egyptian king has ever been discovered, and Narmer's is the elusive crown of the two Egypts.

What made the experience of listening to The Third Gate the most enjoyable?

This was a very different book than I expected. Took a little to keep going but it was worth it.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I really never like to single out one over the rest, they were all good and played off each other well.

Which character – as performed by Johnathan McClain – was your favorite?

I liked McClain very much he kept me interested.

If you could take any character from The Third Gate out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Since I am writing this a few weeks after I read it it is difficult to remember ll of the names I would like to have a one on one with the start and I would love to see just how the wife of the Doctor is.

    Any additional comments?

Takes some effort to get through but well worth it.
