"The dead don't talk. I don't know why." But they do try to communicate, with a short-order cook in a small desert town serving as their reluctant confidant. Odd Thomas thinks of himself as an ordinary guy, if possessed of a certain measure of talent at the Pico Mundo Grill and rapturously in love with the most beautiful girl in the world, Stormy Llewellyn.

Excellent start to the series. I understand that there will be 7 in this series and I look forward to all of them.

Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden has had a rough couple of weeks. As the only openly practicing professional wizard in the Chicago area, he has squared off against a multitude of supernatural bad guys. Harry has won the day against demons, poltergeists, sorcerers, trolls, vampires, werewolves, and even an evil faerie godmother. You might think nothing could spook him. You would be wrong.

What made the experience of listening to Grave Peril the most enjoyable?

    James Marsters!

What other book might you compare Grave Peril to and why?

    Don't know

Have you listened to any of James Marsters’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, he is only getting better as the series goes on!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Jim Butcher always makes me laugh. It was touching when he finally found Susan

    Any additional comments?

I stated in my review of the second book, Fool Moon, that the foundation was being built. Well, in this book, the frame of the series is built here. He introduces many of the major players in his series and even some foreshadowing. I never picked up on those things the first time listening to this series. I'm really enjoying listening to this series a second time. Even better!

Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden is Chicago's only openly practicing wizard. He is also dead broke. His vast knowledge and magical skills are unfortunately matched by his talent for making powerful enemies and alienating friends. With little more than his integrity left, he accepts an offer of work from Lt. Karin Murphy of Chicago's Special Investigations Unit. He wants to redeem himself in Murphy's eyes and make enough money to quiet his rumbling stomach.

Would you listen to Fool Moon again? Why?

Actually, I just listened to it for the 2nd time. So, yes I would.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Harry is by far my favorite character. Actually, he may be my favorite character in all of literature.

What about James Marsters’s performance did you like?

Everything! The first two books he is good but he only gets better with each book. I couldn't imagine any other reader being Harry. Actually, due to a scheduling conflict he couldn't do the book Ghost Story and I couldn't even get through the first hour. I had to read the book. No one does Harry Dresden like James Marsters.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I don't know if I had any extreme reactions but Harry always does make me laugh. I like the character. A normal guy with flaws who tries to do the right thing.

    Any additional comments?

I am listening to this series again in anticipation of Skin Game coming out in May. Just want to refresh my memory. I didn't notice it the first time I listened to it but in this book he starts to lay the foundation of his series. A lot of foreshadowing is done. He starts to spin his intricate web. Excellent series, you can't go wrong listening to it.

Someone is harnessing immense supernatural forces to commit a series of grisly murders. Someone has violated the first law of magic: Thou Shalt Not Kill. Tracking that someone takes Harry into the dangerous underbelly of Chicago, from mobsters.

What did you love best about Storm Front?

Everything! This series of books are second to none in this genre. I just finished listening to this the second time. Harry Dresden is one of my favorite characters of all in literature. Jim Butcher is great with characterization. His books move at a great pace. Everything happens within like 2 or 3 days. You will have 3 different things or angles that start off that seem separate but they always fall in to place at the end. Perfect touch of humor.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Storm Front?

**SPOILER*** I really enjoyed all of it but if I had to pick one moment.. I would have to say the scene that starts off with Harry in the shower and the demon shows up at his door. All the way through to where he dispatches the demon.

What about James Marsters’s performance did you like?

There couldn't be a better narrator for this series than James Marsters. He absolutely brings Harry to life. He only gets better with each book. Definitely one of my favorite authors!!!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book touches you and you can relate to Harry. The guy is isn't perfect but tries to always do the right thing. He makes mistakes, reflects on them. He is just like a normal person and you can relate to him. That's what makes these books so good.

    Any additional comments?

You can't go wrong with this series!!!

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

    Maybe some depth,

Has Monster Hunter International turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, because I have read much better books in this genre. Such as the Joe Ledger series by Jonathan Maberry

    Which scene was your favorite?

Maybe the opening scene with the werewolf.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Monster Hunter International?

I'm not a very articulate person. That's why I read books and not write them. So, I'm not really sure.

    Any additional comments?

I'm probably going to take some heat for this one but I did not like this book. I just don't get all the great reviews for this book. I'm not saying it was a bad book, it just wasn't for me. I felt there was no depth in this book. None of the characters drew me in. It was just too far out there. It reminded me of a sci fi channel movie. It took everything I had to get through this book and did not hold my interest at all. If you are a someone who loves everything about guns, testosterone, monsters, hot stripper chicks who can kill monsters and a story with no depth then this is the book for you. I think there are much better books out there in this genre. Such as the Joe Ledger Series by Jonathan Maberry. I don't like to give bad reviews but I just couldn't help it with this one

Why we think it’s a great listen: Gaiman’s not just an award-winning author, but a narrator who earns rave reviews – and fields requests from other authors to perform their books, too! Nobody Owens, known to his friends as Bod, is a normal boy. He would be completely normal if he didn't live in a sprawling graveyard, being raised and educated by ghosts, with a solitary guardian who belongs to neither the world of the living nor of the dead....

I enjoyed this book. Author did an excellent job narrating his book. Definitely worth the listen but I thought there were too many similarities between this book and another famous book. I won't mention the title because I don't want to give away the ending of this book. Still enjoyed it though!

He's the most unlikely hero you'll ever meet, an ordinary guy with a modest job you might never look at twice. But there's so much more to any of us than meets the eye, and that goes triple for Odd Thomas. For Odd lives always between two worlds in the small desert town of Pico Mundo, where the heroic and the harrowing are everyday events. Odd never asked to communicate with the dead, it's something that just happened.

I really enjoyed this book. I listened to the first 2 books and this searies and thought they were great. I can't wait to listen to the next 2 and I'm looking forward to final 3 installments. I also enjoy the reader of these books.
