I purchased this book for my 10 yr old to inspire him to read about things he was interested in. I started reading it too & couldn't put it down. It was entertaining & tells a good life lesson too. I thought it might be sad but was glad it had a happy ending & was equally entertaining. My son enjoyed it as well.

When James Henry Trotter accidentally drops some magic crystals by the old peach tree, strange things start to happen. The peach at the top of the tree begins to grow, and before long it's as big as a house. Then James discovers a secret entranceway into the fruit, and when he crawls inside, he meets a bunch of marvelous oversized friends: Old-Green-Grasshopper, Centipede, Ladybug, Miss Spider, and more.

I purchased this book for my 10 yr old to inspire him to read about things he was interested in. I started reading it too. It was very entertaining. My son enjoyed it as well. His class completed a literary review on the story. They learned more about how to feel as characters feel in the story and why author wrote the book. This makes a great thematic classroom set.
Great vocabulary & spelling. Many teachable units out of this book. We stayed on this book an entire month.

There's a folder in Principal Kelling's office that's as thick as a phonebook and it's growing daily. It's filled with the incident reports of every time Clayton Hensley broke the rules. There's the minor stuff like running in the hallways and not being where he was suppose to be when he was supposed to be there. But then there are also reports that show Clay's own brand of troublemaking, like the most recent addition: the art teacher has said that the class should spend the period drawing anything they want....

"One day I was 12 years old and broke. I set out to mow some lawns with Grandpa's old riding mower. One client was Arnold the stockbroker, who offered to teach me about: the beauty of capitalism. Supply and demand. Diversifying labor. Distributing the wealth. 'It's groovy, man,' Arnold said. The grass grew, and so did business. Arnold invested my money in many things. One of them was a prizefighter. All of a sudden I was the sponsor of my very own fighter, Joey Pow."

The summer I was 12, mowing lawns with Grandpa’s old riding mower turned into big business. With advice from Arnold the stockbroker, I learned all about making money.
