"Entertaining"
Very entertaining book on the evolution of Pixar. Excellent historical research on the pioneers of computer animation as well. One negative...author spends a lot of time explaining the plot on some of the Pixar movies.
"Very misleading title"
I've read most of Feinstein's work and I'm a fan but very disappointed with the content of this book. It's more about the author's struggles to get his ideas accepted by bosses, colleagues, subjects, etc. I would not have purchased this title if I had known the content. I was expecting in-depth interviews with the "greats of the game" not discussions on how the author was granted "full access". On the plus side, the narration is first rate.
If you're looking for a book on John Feinstein, then this is your book. If you're looking for "One on One Behind The Scenes" I'd look somewhere else.
"Dull and repetitive"
Not sure why but I found myself hitting fast forward a number of times through this audiobook. It just got a little tedious with the minute details of Taylor's diva life. I'm a fan of Elizabeth Taylor...but not this book.
"Pleasantly surprised"
I knew very little of the author but thoroughly enjoyed this book. Dropped names is an apt title as the number of well known people involved in Langella's life is staggering. Will listen to this again soon.
"Well done"
Really enjoyed this audiobook and the story of Janis Ian. Highly recommend to anyone with an interest in singer/songwriters.
"So-so listen"
While the story was interesting I found it difficult to listen to the narration after a while.
"Good story, good performance"
I am not a fan of Bill O'Reilly but I enjoyed his narration of the story. Tons of detail that I haven't read anywhere else. Definite recommendation.
"Excellent listen"
Very interesting story that had me checking different sites on the net for more detail. Well researched with very little doubt about the author's thoughts on who was responsible.
"Enron still facinates"
This is my third Enron book and I thought it was excellent. More insight than the Smartest Guys in the Room and Watkins was there for the whole disgusting charade. Well worth the time for anyone interested in the Enron debacle.
"Enjoyable but not memorable"
Fairly light biography with lots of stories that Burnett's fans will enjoy. I like her work but thought the book was a little dated with too many references to how great the original show and cast were....after a while, it just gets boring.
"disappointed"
Not sure I know much more about Redford than when I began reading this bio. Lots of politics, environmental concerns, casting angst on movies but very little about Redford as a person outside of his activism, politics, passion and lateness. Very little on family life (beyond wife's politics, naturally) friends and co-workers (beyond their politics) and the experience of making some very successful movies.
I wasn't looking for fluff but expected more warmth and humanity...not chapter after chapter of "environment, canyons, development, politics, history, etc."
The narration is first rate...sounds a little like Redford but this is not an audiobook I would recommend.
