What made the experience of listening to Tempest Rising the most enjoyable?

The narration and storyline was just a really nice fun combo. I was pleasantly surprised.

Who was your favorite character and why?

    Jane True

What about Kate Reinders’s performance did you like?

I like that she didn't just read the book, she too seemed entertained and very much into the characters and the story.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    Meet Jane True!

    Any additional comments?

I'm into this series. I was hoping the rest of the books get on audio.

Whip-smart, hardworking, and on her way to an MBA, Chloe Mills has only one problem: her boss, Bennett Ryan. He’s exacting, blunt, inconsiderate - and completely irresistible. A beautiful bastard. Bennett has returned to Chicago from France to take a vital role in his family’s massive media business. He never expected that the assistant who’d been helping him from abroad was the gorgeous, innocently provocative - completely infuriating - creature he now has to see every day. Despite the rumors, he’s never been one for a workplace hookup. But Chloe’s so tempting he’s willing to bend the rules....

    Everything

What was most disappointing about Christina Lauren’s story?

I quit the book after two chapters.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Grace Grant?

The narrator was fine, it was the story that shut this mess down.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Beautiful Bastard?

    Chapters one and two.

On Manhattan’s Upper East Side, a woman lies dead at the bottom of a brownstone’s basement steps, stripped of all her valuables. Most cops might call it a mugging gone wrong, but Lieutenant Eve Dallas knows better. A well-off accountant and a beloved wife and mother, Marta Dickenson doesn’t seem the type to be on anyone’s hit list. But when Eve and her partner, Peabody, find blood inside the brownstone, she knows Marta’s murder is the work of a killer who’s trained, yet not professional or smart enough to remove all the evidence.

What would have made Calculated in Death better?

Better storyline. This one book was particularly stale and I"m a bit surprised. Death and taxes are indeed a part of life, but it does not make an interesting read. It's time for this series to shake things up. They need a kid, introduce a new character or something. Let Eve have a sibling a grandparent. Just add SOMETHING!

What was most disappointing about J. D. Robb’s story?

I found it boring and I had a hard time wanting to finish.

What does Susan Ericksen bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Susan Ericksen is the only reason why I finished the book.

What character would you cut from Calculated in Death?

The socialite. She had no purpose at all. She wasn't even fun to hate.

    Any additional comments?

It's time to shake things up if this series is going to continue. Same couples, same characters, same bantering. Same same same. I think the only thing JD Robb can do to catch my interest is if they adopt some kids or something. A girl like Eve and a boy like Roark. Not young kids but tweens or teens to shake up the story lines. I think if the next book is like all the rest I may retire myself from the series. I felt like this was a waste of my credit.

Sabina Kane doesn't really fit in. And being an assassin doesn't help matters. But she's never brought her work home. Until now. Sabina's latest mission is uncomfortably complex and threatens the fragile peace between the vampire and mage races. As she scrambles to figure out which side she's on, she uncovers a tangled political web, some nasty facts about her family, and some unexpected new talents. Any of these things could be worryingly life changing, but together they could be lethal.

When she decides to meet her family.

    Which scene was your favorite?

Without giving anything away, it was her time spent in NYC.

I think this particular book just got on my nerves from the beginning. I'm sure that this book just might suit another, but this isn't my taste.

What could Kresley Cole have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I guess less caveman more sexy vampire.

How could the performance have been better?

I think the narrator did what he could . He was ok.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

What disappointed you about Kitty and The Midnight Hour?

I've been reading and listening to books in this genre for quite sometime. I have pretty much gone through everything and I was looking for another series to pick up. This first book of the series was very uneventful. I found the plot to be very boring and I was not excited about what the next chapter would bring at all. I forced myself to finish the book.

Has Kitty and The Midnight Hour turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, like I said this is a favorite genre of mine and I look forward to gripping onto something new.

Did Marguerite Gavin do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

I guess she tried, but I found the characters to be very dull, even the lead character, Kitty herself.

What character would you cut from Kitty and The Midnight Hour?

Probably most she be written out or written in a different buildup.

    Any additional comments?

I won't be continuing with this series.

Would you try another book from Faith Hunter and/or Khristine Hvam?

Yes probably but not this series.

What was most disappointing about Faith Hunter’s story?

When she shifts into her "other" self the writing is just silly. I don't understand why Anna can't tell the story in full sentences since she is present anyway. When she shifts she sounds like a version of Tonto but less educated like a cave man. Really disappointed with the writing on that aspect. It started to get frustrating and I got bored so I stopped listening.

Did Khristine Hvam do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

    Very nice job.

What character would you cut from Skinwalker?

As stated above the way it changed from first person Anna telling the story and listening to the CATs version with basically a million descriptive adjectives of the weather. Boring.

    Any additional comments?

I think this was a really good idea but the creative writing turned into blubbering chatter of adjectives.

.Lucas Davenport has seen many terrible murder scenes. This is one of the worst. In the small Minnesota town of Deephaven, an entire family has been killed - husband, wife, two daughters, dogs. There’s something about the scene that pokes at Lucas’s cop instincts - it looks an awful lot like the kind of scorched-earth retribution he’s seen in drug killings sometimes. But this is a seriously upscale town, and the husband was an executive vice president at a big bank. It just doesn’t seem to fit.

Would you listen to Stolen Prey again? Why?

I'm already listening to it for a second time, I think there may be a third.

What did you like best about this story?

It had me seriously involved within the first five minutes. I'm so impressed with how the depth of the two stories had me wanting to keep reading because I just needed to know what was going to happen next.

What does Richard Ferrone bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Ferrone needs to work on his breathing, it was slightly distracting but his overall performance was very well done ... As usual.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The best of the entire series.

    Any additional comments?

I have been reading Davenport for years, never missed a release. Some have Impressed me and some not so much. This one is by far his best. I was so shocked at the end that I had to listen to it three times.

Jaclyn Wilde is a wedding planner who loves her job—usually. But helping Carrie Edwards with her Big Day has been an unrelenting nightmare. Carrie is a bridezilla of mythic nastiness, a diva whose tantrums are just about as crazy as her demands. But the unpleasant task at hand turns seriously criminal when Carrie is brutally murdered and everyone involved with the ceremony is accusing one another of doing the deed.

    Story

I love Linda Howard - I have read all her books (twice) and then when they become available on audio I purchase them again and usually listen twice.
I'm not sure what happened here with this book, it was good for the first two hours, the lead characters were somewhat interesting together and a bit sexy; but then it got stale really quick for the rest of the listen. I kept waiting for something to happen but what I listened to was a full on description of six wedding's the wedding planner was involved with. I listened to a description of the color pink for about 40 minutes. there was some quirky scenes in the book but it might have been translated much better with a different narrater.
The murder investigation was drawn out and there was no interesting details with any type of mystery or "WHO DONE IT" scenarios. It was obvious the entire time who the killer was, without any type of shock value.

The narrater, Clarinda Ross, was all wrong for this book. The entire listen I was so aware of her that she distracted me from the book itself. When listening to any narrater (a good narrater) you are supposed to forget that they're there, you're supposed to be taken into the story and forget; you are not supposed to be reminded with every sentence that you are being read to. Like your favorite sixth grade teacher did when she had the class sit on the floor in a circle. Every time she started a sentence, I kept saying to myself "just spit it out and get to it already".

I'm sorry i didn't enjoy this book,I was really looking forward to it. This book was left open at the end like it may become a 2 book series like she did with "Drop Dead Gorgeous" perhaps if she writes a continuation, the next one will be more entertaining.

I'm still waiting for some of my favorites to become available on audio:
"A Game Of Chance", & "Mr. Perfect", I hope to see those two real soon here on audible.com.

If I had known how depressing this book would be I would have skipped it. Live To Tell is a story about a children's psychiatric ward, family heartbreak and horror. It was very real, very raw and truly heartbreaking. Usually I like my murder mystery without child, infant and baby murders. With that said ... I had to finish till the end because I just needed to know the outcome. The three narraters were the best I have ever listened to and I look forward to listening to them in the future.
