I LOVE P.T. Deutermann, I have listened to most of his books in audio format. Perhaps because I have listened to so many, this one fell a bit short. I had to force myself to finish listening, since it seemed to drag on and on and on.
Perhaps his formula has become too predictable for me, it is too bad, I Loved the cat dancer series and Hunting season (my Favorite).
For the record, I will continue to listen to anything he publishes, but will stick to the books narrated by Dick Hill.
I couldn't put this one down, and have since purchased other Nora Roberts recordings. This story is a great listen, there is lots of action and momentum and you really bond with the protagonist. There is a roller coaster of emotions that are brought out in this fun beach book type read.
If you are looking for something that keeps you turning the pages and leaves you wanting another book of the same, try The Witness, you wont be disappointed.
I think I wanted this story to be something it wasn't. The narration was quite good, which made it easy to finish, despite not enjoying the story. I think I wanted the story to be more gripping, about 'something'. I was very disappointed in the ending.
I have listened to several Sandra Brown thrillers and have truly enjoyed them... this story is very very very different from the usual thriller. I was not expecting the soft core porn aspect of this story. Her other books do not have anything quite so 'adult'.
I am about 3/4 of the way through the story... and just can't finish it. The book seems to go on and on and on. One tense scene after another, it never ends.
Unfortunately I don't think I will finish this one.
The style of this story is that it switches from timeframe to timeframe, from a listener's perspective it is very difficult to keep straight what is happening 'now' v.s. past v.s. future. the story is very interesting, but the jumping around in time is difficult to follow.
I finished the story, but had to rewind A LOT.
This story is gripping, I can not stop listening. Scott Brick's presentation is amazing, he does suspense/thrillers very well. Love this style of book.
If you like escape from reality with a little thrill, this is great... I have just downloaded more of Harlan Coben's work.
The content is a little too real for me. It is difficult for me to listen to this since it is a rather touchy subject (rape and stalking). I was listening while home alone and could not sleep... I had to stop listening. So if you like being scared sh*tless... then listen away!
I enjoyed this book and it's narration. It is more of a performance than 'a reading', I felt like I got to know the character through the voice. I hope Amanda Ronconi, reads the next books in the series.
BORING... I am surprised that James Patterson has written such a (yawn) boring story. There are quite a few 'racy' bits in this story, but they were not feminine at all. James should stick to what he knows, thinking like a man. Unfortunately I had to finish the story, because I started listening to it (that is why It got 2 starts, if I cant finish, it only gets one)
I read the first book 'Uglies' and decided to listen to the second book 'Pretties'... I am on chapter 4, and am struggling with listening to the narration. I wish I had read the reviews of the narrator prior to downloading this book. I have tried speeding the book up to 1 & 1/2x, but still this narrator is painful to listen to. I agree with some of the other reviewers about assuming the audience are morons... the narration speed doesn't help at all. Hopefully I can listen to this book quickly.
Note: I will be reading the print version of book 3 & 4 going forward (unless there is a different narrator)
