"I couldn't stop"
This book is not easy to read. The things Echo and Noa deall with are hard, but the way they actualy came into their own was harder. It was hard to see echo starting to remember that night. It was hard to see her relationship with Ashley, the owman who was a mother to her almost until she marryed her father. Noa did some great things. He was really good at heart. I loved him and Echo together. They were not the usual tipe. They really loved each other. This is more than being in love. Noa's treatmont of his brother was indearing. I tiink the sistam has to learn something from this book. The carichtors were believeable. I loved it! I recommend it for people with strong heart! I cryed a lot, and laughed quite a few times.
"Getting Used"
I want to give this story 4 and a half stars. It was gripping and sad. I cryed a lot. But it was too slow and full of questions for me. What will happen to Carrey now? Am I supposed to guess or is there a continuation in the making? I love open endings, but not when they are too opened. And I must say I found the plot rather expected. I wanted to see more every day life. That is, the first days took so much of the book. But again, it was an interesting story.
I found it logical that the girls had book in the wood. Mom wanted to keep them busy somehow while she did what she did.
Enjoy this ride.
"A Very Consuming Book"
Prity Girl 13 is a very very very good book. One of the best things about it is that you are left with unresolved questions. However, I feel compeled to warn you all that this is a very hard read. The book is sad. Not only Anjy's story. We don't see only Anjy's point of view. We see a little from those who are left behind- family and friends. I can give an outline of the events in the story. However, on some of them, you miss many ditales. I recommend this book to people with a strong heart who want to listen to a fabuless reading of a very good story by a very very smart author about a subject which they may not incounter on another place. I learned a lot from this book.
"Where's the rest of the story?"
I've liked the book but it's the first one for more to come. It does not stand for itself, it would have been great reading it and continue reading the "next" chapter in the next book.
Yes, I very much recommend you will wait till the next one will be published.
"More Than An Everage Teen Book"
Page is not good and pure. But I see her as a surviver. Lacey had a hard time... Right. She needed a friend. Right. But what if Page also had a hard time? What if she also needed a friend? Her mother abused her (at least mentaly) and her boyfriend and other ex-best friend were manipulating her. What if she was lost and confused and her former life fell apart? I was worryed about her. I wanted her to go the right way. I understood her. I even admired her some times. I am glad she found some reall friends. But she has a long way to go... The ending was wonderfuly realistic. It was not a banal love story. Please, if you are a teen or student or care giver, listen to this book. The narrator is just ausumn.
"Good, but..."
The author is wonderful. Her wrighting stile is much better than many other books I read. She just had the tuch for her Kitty. However, two things bothered me:
1. The facts which she used in the novel about Kittie's life do not match the facts I know. I won't list these facts here, because I feel it would spoil the book and I am not up to it.
2. Kittie began to grow up... But then she grue up pritty ocwardly. In the end, she refused all help and set out alone. She is optimistic, but a woman- espeshally in the 16th century- could hardly dair to contemplate such a thing. Society wouldn't let her!
The narrator is perfect. I really loved listening to her. And carichtors are very well presented (not only Cat.) They simply came to life for me: Cat, Alice, John, Mary, the duchess, Edmond, William, Thomas and sometimes even the king. If ms. Longshore will publish a second novel, I'll be among the first to read it and give an honest review.
"A Mad Night"
First, I have to tell you that the author is wonderful and the narrator is perfect. Her work was really, reallly, admirable and I think she got her sole into this book. I have much to say about each of the three girls: I pittyed Bliss at least in the begining, admired Jolin, and loved Meg. The processes they delt with were very reall. But such things can not be solved in one night- mad as it might be. You can understand a few things, but not change completely. But again, even if the author made them change and find a way to get along, she did it in an almost realistic way. She created three original complecated carichtors. That was good. I stayed up all night to see what was going to happen. Highly recommended, and not only for teens.
"Very Disappointed With The Ending"
Over all, this was a wonderful read. The begining was wonderful, the wrighting stile is briliant, and the narrator is great. But the last hour or so made me very disappointed. After such an exedent, life can't continue on the same corse. There were changes, but this ending was bad for all those involved.
In addition, I really hated May Lin. She was presented as pure and unselfish, but she seemed to miss time after time the basic needs of her son, her husband, and her father-in-law. In fact, I regard her as a narrow, foolish and manipulative woman.
Their were a few carichtors in this book, but all of them were presented as flash and bludd- and at the end I felt as if I knew them.
This book remained with me long after I finished it. So I five it 5 stars (dispight the ending.)
"Good Book From Every Aspect"
I loved every minute of this book. Julie Teel is a very tallented narrator. The last chapter gave a reall end to the story, a very realistic end. I have so much more to say about this book, but I don't want to spoil it. I highly recommend it.
"It's Still With Me"
I listened to this book about 4 years ago, and it still remains with me. It is historical fiction at it's best. Yes, the story needed some time to warm up- but almost every good book does- and the begining made me curious enough to hear more. The carichtors are not perfect, and that is what makes this book even better. The author remains loyal to historical facts, and succeeds in creating a great novel with a subcontext. I highly recommend it.
