"One of my favorites"
I have had the pleasuer of listening to several of Larry McMurtry's books. But is is one of my favorites. Part of it is due to the reader Betty Buckley. It feels like the real Calamidy Jane is speaking at times, or even more of an entire cast. She does an amazing job. The story of the Old west and the main Characters of Buffalo Bills Wild West show draw into life here. The book is also written threw the eyes of several people, Jane, the bufflo men, no ears, ect. You feel you know every character. If you enjoy Larry McMurtry this is a must have!
"Understanding your Other half"
Really being able to understand my other half from both a biblical and practical view.
What made this so good? It really works if you really apply it. Learning why men tick the way they do ( and women ) has transformed how I interact with the opposite sex. The teaching was not only funny, but filled with AH HA moments of understanding. What better investment than to learn how to make your relationships better? It really has changed for the better how I view the opposite sex and has blessed my home. My other half listed to it as well and when getting into a heated moment we both smile knowing how we can deal with it for the better. A must listen if you want to transform your relationships for the better.
"A Love story, plus healing hearts"
It's hard to say what I loved best. I guess it just swept me up. A mothers drive to heal the wounds of the family ( including her own). The ''horse whisperer'' tom is based on an actually man ( still alive ) today who does horse therapy so to speak. He does therapy for the horses as well as the riders. I suppose the notion and romantic situation caught me up. The story was touching, heart breaking and sweet. I guess it was simple well written cowboy love story with a twist.
"Short but worth it"
For just a few hours I was wondering how this would be. But I listened to it in one streght. I was shocking and eye opening. Some of your money goes to help support this young lady in this purchase, plus you get a audio book. I learned something new, got an audio and helped support Nujood. It was worth the few dollars for me.
"Excellent, But! You should know your tudor History"
Great book, I loved several aspects to the writing. First, different points of views from several characters getting to tell their side of the story so to speak. Second; a more story like telling instead of dry facts. I actually got to enjoy the story that delt with the facts, instead of just dry facts. My only real complaint to be honest is if I haden't been very familiar with the Tudor lineage I might have been really confused at parts who was speaking. Because it is audio and so it reads sometimes faster it might get confusing who is speaking or hard to remember which character is now telling their side. So exellent story, just mabye be somewhat familiar with the tudor dynasty first.
"One of the Best Love Stories of all time."
This is not what I was expecting but was far far better. This book was recommened to my mother, from an aunt and then to me from my mother. I have also recommened this book to many people and every single one has loved it. Diana Gabaldon has P.H.D and a large education backround that she brings to the table. The story cut short is of a women named Claire who goes to scotland with her husband back in 1945. Claire travels back in time threw standing stones 200 years and finds herself in the middle of Scottish highlands during a time of war. The book is more or less of her life there with a knowledge of the future and her fight to get home, or does she really want to get home? She finds herself attached to the past by her love for Jamie. It's so well written you actually learn a great deal about the 1700's in Scotland and so much more. If I had to only recommend 5 must reads this would be one.
"For My kids"
I enjoy getting to spend time with my kids and listening to audio books together is one of them. For the younger age groups this is wonderful and one they enjoy listening to over and over again. I would say from about 5-7ish age group. That said I enjoyed it myself, the reader is great. If your looking for a good short read before bed time two thumbs up on this one.
"Dragged on, Worst book I have purchased yet."
I have bought many books from Audible in the past years. This was not a good one. I felt the story would never end and it dragged. I assumed being on the Oprah book list and reading some reviews I would really enjoy this. Not so. If you read other reviews you will see similar. I don't suggest it save your point. The author is talented and a good writer, this book just did not work and the same story could have been told in 8 or 9 hours in stead of the more than 20.
"A bit sad"
Im a huge cat lover and I really enjoy Mr.Herriots storys. I have only listen to 3, but I must say this one was full of tears for me. So I highly recommend James Herriot just mabye not this one unless your a bit more tuff skinned than me.
"It is good, just wasnt as good as the Game"
I happen to really enjoy Laurie King story's of Marry Russell. That said I had listened to The Game First. I was expecting it to be as well written as the Game so I was a little disappointed I think. Still a good listen of you follow the Marry Russell Novels though. It also is nice it gives you some extra back round on Holmes past! I wont give it away but I really enjoyed that bit. Also the reader is excellent.
