"Maybe it's a book for guys"
Although I managed to listen to the entire book, it was one of my least favorites. There is quite a bit of detail about special forces types of torture and killing. A very basic, simple story of revenge. Not all that entertaining.
"Loved it..."
What a fun tale. The Narrator is one of the best I've listened to. I've been thorougly entertained through this story and the next in the series and am about to download book number three. I highly recommend it for kids and adults.
"Boring"
The Narrator is good but I'm finding this book pretty boring. Overall I have to say it's a disappointment after reading some of the positive reviews. Wish I hadn't wasted my credit.
"Good Book - Narrator not so much"
This is a good story but I wish I would have read it instead of listened to it. The narrator uses such a whiny voice throughout the book that it gets annoying. I've listened to so many great narrators, it can make a huge difference in the entertainment quality of the book.
"A wonderful story"
This book is one of my new favorites. It's wonderfully narrated and a real eye opener to the way of things in the deep south in the early 60's. Although I'm not from the South, I found myself identifying with the era. I was born in 1961 and found it interesting to think about this time while listening to the book. It's a touching story about women and friendship. I highly recommend it!
"Very Enjoyable"
I thorougly enjoyed this audio book. I've read a lot of Ken Follet and found this book to be very entertaining. It's shorter and lighter then Pillars & World but includes very good charactor building and a nicely paced story. I highly recommend it.
"Fun and Entertaining"
This narrator is great. She is so skilled at doing different voice and adds such entertainment to the stories. I often find myself laughing. Just pure fun and entertainment.
"Half way through and not sure I'll ever finish it"
I liked the idea of the book and at times it's interesting. I tend to get lost in excessive, unimportant details and ramblings about vague side-stories that go on and on and on...then I've lost interest and leave it for several days before trying to get into it again. It's probably the worst audio book I've ever listened to in that it just isn't holding my attention. I would not recommend it at all.
