One of the most famous and influential books of its (or any) time, The Origin of Species is, surprisingly, little read. True enough, most people know what it says, or think they do, at any rate. The first comprehensive statement of the theory of natural selection, it does, indeed, provide the basic argument and demonstration of what we think of as Darwinism.

This is a good example of how a great book can be ruined by a narrator. His voice was irritating enough to make me turn it off after one minute every time I tried to listen. Please find another recording.

Officer Rainie Conner is leading her first homicide investigation, a school shooting. The police chief's 13-year-old son is the prime suspect, but Rainie doesn't believe he pulled the trigger. With the help of FBI profiler Pierce Quincy, she races to uncover the truth. But a ruthless killer watches from the shadows--and lives to destroy her as he has destroyed her peaceful little Oregon community.

    "don't buy this one"
    Overall

i can't comment on the story nor tell you how good or bad it is, although i enjoyed almost all of this authors books. the reason is that i could not listen to this one. and that is not for a lack of trying, trust me. every time i tried it took not more than a minute or two before i realized that i just can't keep listening to this narrator. aside from the fact that she seems to think that we are all 3 or 4 year old girls waiting to hear a bedtime story, she in fact uses pauses and stresses at certain words that make it impossible to follow the idea in the sentence.

i wish that audible would recognize this and republish the book with a different narrator. i may then be able to write a review stating what i think of the story.
