In this rollicking tale, best-selling author Dixie Cash - author of My Heart May Be Broken but My Hair Still Looks Great - sets Salt Lick's own sleuthing cosmetologists on a collision course with the Big Apple. On an all-expenses-paid trip to a New York PI convention, the Texas Tornadoes hope to do some serious shopping. But that's before they stumble across a serial killer.

    Story

I wouldn't take the time to write a review, but I really don't understand how this audiobook got so many good reviews. This story reads like a moment by moment walk through of two texas girls and their trip to the big New York. The book is very simplistic, so it got boring very quickly. The only reason I listened through the whole book was that I had paid for the audiobook.

Sophie Kinsella's debut is a romp through the perils of shopping and spending, spending, spending! Becky can't resist a sale, and she's only a little overdrawn on her VISA. Readers will laugh aloud at Becky's retail adventures as she finds new and creative ways to relieve her increasingly credit card debt. Emily Gray's narration bounces along with Becky and her buying whims, while delivering a humorous account of what happens when credit goes bad.

    "slow pace fun listen"
    Overall

This bookis a good relaxing listen. I enjoyed this book for a day when I want to relax with a simple story that makes me laugh out loud. The funny thing is that now I really want to go shopping. I am now onto the Manhattan book and am enjoying that one too.

    "Too Gruesome"

This book was too gruesome. What makes that even worse is that you know the events are real. I couldn't listen for very long.

Deep in the stacks of Oxford's Bodleian Library, young scholar Diana Bishop unwittingly calls up a bewitched alchemical manuscript in the course of her research. Descended from an old and distinguished line of witches, Diana wants nothing to do with sorcery; so after a furtive glance and a few notes, she banishes the book to the stacks. But her discovery sets a fantastical underworld stirring, and a horde of daemons, witches, and vampires soon descends upon the library.

    Story

The book is good and would get 5 stars if the book wrapped up the loose ends. However, it becomes apparent at the end that this is only the beginning of the story. I feel like there is no conclusion or resolution at the end of the book. It wasn't till i was just about done with the book that I realized this is the start of a series. That would have been nice to know from the beginning. I also agree with others that they could have cut a few hours out of the story.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.

    Kindle Customer says: "Great Narration!!"
    "excellent, but explicit"
    Overall

I loved the story and would give it 5 stars in a heart beat, except for the explicit sex scenes. I would give the book 5 stars if the scenes were removed. I loved the storyline. This was one of the few stories that I have listened to that I felt had a solid ending that wrapped up the loose ends and was a great ending.

    Story

This version uses modern lingo and is very condensed. All of the shakespearian romance or style is lost. This would be ok for a highschool student that is trying to get a quick summary of what the story means. This is not for someone that wants to listen to Shakespeare's actual work.

  • Life Is What You Make It: Find Your Own Path to Fulfillment

Which will you choose: the path of least resistance or the path of potentially greatest satisfaction? You may think that with a last name like his, Buffett has enjoyed a life of endless privilege. But the son of billionaire investor Warren Buffett says that the only real inheritance handed down from his parents was a philosophy: Forge your own path in life. It is a creed that has allowed him to follow his own passions, establish his own identity, and reap his own successes.

    Martin says: "Read this book"
"lacked depth for the average person"
    Overall

I enjoyed listening to this book. I believe the author was honest and sincere. I think the best part of the book was listening to his outlook on life. The Buffett family has such a great outlook. I only ranked the book a 3 because it wasn't very applicable to my life. My outlook on life was already that you can choose which direction to go in life, so this book didn't offer any advice that I really wanted to act on.
