"Children folklore disguised as science fiction"
Kept waiting for a story that did not happened
Stick to one main story that mattered
Very good narration, the only thing that was good about the book
All the children school adventure and useless characters that did nothing that mattered to the book.
Waste of money.
""Pushing Ice is what we do" absolute joy!"
The only issue with Alastair Reynolds books is that it sets the bar too high for other sic-fi books to follow.
Pushing Ice is no exception. It is a space opera at its best all in one book, great character buildings and full of tension and adventures. The two main characters are best friends who fall out going into two different directions and it all happens in space, aboard a mining spaceship that eventually comes to to rest on an alien moon trapped in a gigantic alien structure. It doesn't get better than this. Absolute joy from beginning to end.
If you are sic-fi fan and wondering where to spend your credit, Alastair Reynolds book are no brainer. Enjoy.
"Solid story and excellent narration"
Redemption Ark is played out in the same universe of Revelation Space but you don't need to read the Revelation Space first. It is another classic book from Alastair Raynolds that will keep you entertained right through to the end. This is a story of humanity in the near feature and reasons why alines and other species are hard to find. Very plausible and engaging with excellent ending.
"Engaging, strongly recommend to sci-fi fans"
Another excellent sic-fi novel by Alastair Raynolds and magnificent performance by John Lee. I've read most of Alastair Raynolds books and always enjoyed his realistic depiction of near future underlined with scientific facts.
Absolution gap picks up after Redemption Ark, continues with the story of human survival against the inhabiters. You can still read this book without the previous book but I recommend to read redemption ark first which is also a fantastic book if you can't wait till all the characters background are covered later in this book.
I had a mix feeling about the ending but right till the very last chapter the story continues on the right expectation path. If you are familiar with Alastrair Reynaldo then you definitely enjoy the ride and accept the twisted endings. Absolution Gap introduces many concepts that on their own right can be a good sic-fi stories. If you like this series then I also recommend Revelation space which is the part one foundation for other standalone books form AR.
"Non stop action pack sci-fi"
Found Mark Boyett's narration of Swarm very engaging right from the start. Mark is very talented, his narration of troy rising by John Ringo was excellent but very very different from Swarm.
This book has strong themes only suitable for hard core sci-fi military fan. I loved the beginning of the book, could not stop listening.
"Enjoyed John Lee's narrative of Century Rain."
Overall good audio book, but needed more depth
The ending was ordinary and to some degree predictable.
John Lee's delivery of the Century Rain and seamless charter transition was excellent as always. John lee can make listening to any Sci-fi worthwhile your time.
Yes.
"Must read, funny and believable"
Mark Boyett narrative and delivery of the book was excellent. His impersonation of different characters was amazing. Definitely recommend the audible version.
