Rose Drayton lives on the Edge, between the world of the Broken (where people drive cars, shop at Wal-Mart, and magic is a fairy tale) and the Weird (where blueblood aristocrats rule, changelings roam, and the strength of your magic can change your destiny). Only Edgers like Rose can easily travel from one world to the next, but they never truly belong in either.

"contemporary humor with a regency hero"
    Overall

I have exhausted the fantasy/paranormal romance genre and all the books are just bleeding together so it was refreshing to have something NEW and FUN with endearing characters in this little family like Jack... the authors must have kids. I actually went back to my Audible library and lowered my ratings on previous books in comparison to this one.

Listeners looking for a fresh twist on vampire tales need look no further than the erotically charged Black Dagger Brotherhood series. Mary Luce is dissatisfied with her life and her job. But when she is unwittingly thrust into the vampire dominion, everything changes. Falling under the protection of the Brotherhood's strongest member, Rhage, she soon finds herself drawn to his animalistic urges.

Bonnie says: "JR Ward Writer of Erotic Horror Fantasy"
    "Addicting series"
    Overall

I was thinking about skipping this second book in the series because the next one seems to be everyone's favorite- but I'm glad I didn't jump. It is a necessary step in the series because the relationship between Bella and Z starts here.
I found myself more interested in the orphaned, almost vampire kid they adopt rather than the actual romance between Rage and his woman. I wouldn't have wanted to miss any of the ongoing story.

In feudal England, Elizabeth Montwright barely escaped the massacre that destroyed her family and exiled her from her ancestral castle. Bent on revenge, she rode again through the fortress gates, disguised as a healer...to seek aid from Geoffrey Berkley, the powerful baron who had routed the murderers.

    Brenda says: "Love this story"
    "Julie Garwood has better"
    Overall

You will find these characters basically repeated in Garwood's The Prize and The Bride, except their stories are more interesting than Gentle Warrior's. It feels like she wrote this book and later improved upon it.

"Why is this in the romance category?"
    Overall

Because the heroine was apathetic about her every situation- I was too. I just couldn't get excited about it. Perhaps there is a romance going on later in the series, but not in this opener.

One beautiful, breezy day, Brianna Daniel's hot air balloon joyride turns into "gone with the wind", as she is somehow blown back to the year 1860. Bumping along the road to the Split Rock pony express station as a mail-order bride to Lucas Daniels, Brianna realizes that she has exchanged lives with her great-grandmother, Anna.

A User says: "Great Story and Great Narrator!!!"
    "Fun ride"
    Overall

This was a really entertaining listen, I had a grin on my face the whole time. It started off cheesey and the whole great granddaughter plot didn't sound like it would be a very hot romance- but it did not disappoint.

Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....

Sara says: "The Time Travel VS Romance Quandary"
"great book! great narrator! too much torture"
    Overall

This book is enthralling- I couldn't get anything else done while I was listening to it. And the narrator was fantastic. But I have a weak stomach for torture and it cast a dark shadow over the whole story.
