From 1999 to 2009, U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle recorded the most career sniper kills in United States military history. The Pentagon has officially confirmed more than 150 of Kyles kills (the previous American record was 109), but it has declined to verify the astonishing total number for this book. Iraqi insurgents feared Kyle so much they named him al-Shaitan (“the devil”) and placed a bounty on his head. Kyle earned legendary status among his fellow SEALs, Marines, and U.S. Army soldiers, whom he protected with deadly accuracy from rooftops and stealth positions.

and how our goverment hinders the soliders in the war. The Seals are dispatched to do the work but they must wait for orders to shoot. If it is war then let the guys do their jobs and stop this micro management. Plus, I read this book after Chris was murdered at his home in Texas, so it made this all the sadder for me. The Narrator tried to get the southern accent down but it sounded phoney and just not good at all. The book was good, and I was glad to be able
to read this accounting of the Seals life. The one thing that really disturbs me is the Hazing that goes on. Why does that still go on?

This story is told in the words of a tragic figure in American history - a hook-nosed, hollow-cheeked old Sauk warrior who lived under four flags while the Mississippi Valley was being wrested from his people. The author is Black Hawk himself - once pursued by an army whose members included Captain Abraham Lincoln and Lieutenant Jefferson Davis. Perhaps no Indian ever saw so much of American expansion or fought harder to prevent that expansion from driving his people to exile and death.

Winter of the World picks up right where the first book left off, as its five interrelated families - American, German, Russian, English, Welsh - enter a time of enormous social, political, and economic turmoil, beginning with the rise of the Third Reich, through the Spanish Civil War and the great dramas of World War II, up to the explosions of the American and Soviet atomic bombs. As always with Ken Follett, the historical background is brilliantly researched and rendered, the action fast-moving, the characters rich in nuance and emotion.

On the 78th floor of the World Trade Center’s north tower, no alarms sounded, and no one knew what had just happened at 8:46 a.m. that morning, September 11, 2001. Blind since birth, Michael couldn’t see a thing, but he could hear the sounds of shattering glass, falling debris, and terrified people flooding around him and his guide dog, Roselle. However, Roselle sat calmly beside him. In that moment, Michael chose to trust Roselle’s judgment and not to panic. They were a team....

to "view" the 9-1-1 attacks as a hearing only person, and to understand exactly a guide dog works,; remarkable. I enjoyed this book very much but I felt the author repeating everything again at the end was too much. It was like he did not want to end this book so he kept going on and on. I would recommend this listen. It is worth the listen.
