I read books for pleasure or inspiration or knowledge of history or people. This was none of those. The writing, per se, was fine, even better than that probably, but there was a dull grey sky hanging over it all.
Jack Frost is, as far as I can tell, sui generis. He's apparently not handsome, he's a messy guy, he's not appreciated by his superiors, his intelect is downplayed, his relationships with subordinates is understated, and all sorts of other characteristics that are not found elsewhere. His humor is handled well and the humor is a relief from most mysteries. More from this author, please.
