    "Great Series"

Lord of Chaos is book six of the Wheel of Time series and from book one I was absolutely hooked by Robert Jordan's unique style of writing. One of the reasons I join is so I could get a hold of all 13 books in this series. Even if you don't like fantasy-type book (I didn't) you'll love the intriguing story laid out in this series...

Geary and the crew of the Dauntless have managed to safely escort important alien representatives to Earth. But before they can make tracks for home, two of Geary’s key lieutenants vanish. The search for his missing men leads Geary on a far-flung chase, ultimately ending at the one spot in space from which all humans have been banned: The moon Europa. Any ship that lands there must stay or be destroyed—leaving Geary to face the most profound moral dilemma of his life.

Eric says: "Another great book in the series"
    ""Lost" Me on this one..."

I was pretty excited when the new release came out...however, once I started listening I quickly realized that the content/structure of this story was very different from the other three books in the series. Whereas the first three books have a lot of suspense, action, with some good character development and little politics thrown in to add context. This book is dominated by the political working of the "galaxy" with a few "events" chopped into the story (seemly as a second thought) in order to try to infuses some action/suspense in to the story...couldn't even finish it and returned it for another selection... Considering that this "IS" a SCI-FI story, there are literally a million situations that could have been infused into believable scenarios in-order to make this book as good as the previous books. I was SOOOO disappointed.

  • Star Wars: Maul: Lockdown

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 24 mins)
    • By Joe Schreiber
    • Narrated By Jonathan Davis
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

It's kill or be killed in the space penitentiary that houses the galaxy’s worst criminals, where convicts face off in gladiatorial combat while an underworld gambling empire reaps the profits of the illicit blood sport. But the newest contender in this savage arena, as demonic to behold as he is deadly to challenge, is fighting for more than just survival. His do-or-die mission, for the dark masters he serves, is to capture the ultimate weapon: an object that will enable the Sith to conquer the galaxy.

Amazon Customer says: "Maul + Prison = Too Much Fun"
    "Maul is THA-MAN!!!"

In my humble opinion - this is one of (if not "THE") the best Star Wars books to date... I just sat there like a zombie for three days listening to this book... It's a great story and the narration is fabulous...

    • UNABRIDGED (48 hrs and 15 mins)
    • By Brandon Sanderson

In that first volume, we were introduced to the remarkable world of Roshar, a world both alien and magical, where gigantic hurricane-like storms scour the surface every few days and life has adapted accordingly. Roshar is shared by humans and the enigmatic, humanoid Parshendi, with whom they are at war.

D says: "Book !!; no let down- "Words of Radieance" shines"

Brandon, does it AGAIN!!! This book was so good, as soon as I finished it...I started it over....

    • UNABRIDGED (31 hrs and 22 mins)
    • By Christopher Paolini
    • Narrated By Gerard Doyle

Not so very long ago, Eragon - Shadeslayer, Dragon Rider - was nothing more than a poor farm boy, and his dragon, Saphira, only a blue stone in the forest. Now the fate of an entire civilization rests on their shoulders. months of training and battle have brought victories and hope, but they have also brought heartbreaking loss. And still, the real battle lies ahead: they must confront Galbatorix. When they do, they will have to be strong enough to defeat him. And if they cannot, no one can.

Robert says: "All the reviews had me worried for nothing!"
"Great ending to a Great Series..."

Christopher Paolini did it again...this was an action packed book that leaves not stone unturned...

  • The Name of the Wind: Kingkiller Chronicles, Day 1

    • UNABRIDGED (27 hrs and 58 mins)
    • By Patrick Rothfuss
    • Narrated By Nick Podehl
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

This is a tale of sorrow, a tale of survival, a tale of one man's search for meaning in his universe, and how that search, and the indomitable will that drove it, gave birth to a legend.

    Joanna says: "Wow!"
    "Great Book! Ok Narrative..."

I whole heartedly agree with many of the other reviews of the audio version of this book, if not for the childrens story like reading that Nick Podehl portrays during this book, I would have easily given it 5 STARS.

I hope that the next installment uses a narrator with a more of a refined voice and reading style. There are a number of narrators that would have lent a fuller/dramatic tone to this novel; thus, proving the depth that would have made the listening 1000-times better. A few that come to mind are: Michael Kramer, Scott Brick, Jack Garrett, Ron Perlman, etc.
