For the first time in unabridged audio! A small Kansas town has turned into a killing ground. Is it a serial killer, a man with the need to destroy? Or is it a darker force, a curse upon the land? Amid golden cornfields, FBI Special Agent Pendergast discovers evil in the blood of America's heart.

    Story

Vacationing in the Kansas corn belt, FBI Inspector Pendergast enlists the aid of a young Goth to show him the local sites. Oh, yes, and to, by the way, solve a string of ghastly murderers. Good read, even though I did figure out the mystery. (I don't usually) No one can unravel a "twisted" mystery quite so spectacularly as Preston & Child. And this one is truly twisted.

Art critic Jeremy Grove is found dead, his face frozen in a mask of terror. His body temperature is grotesquely high; he is discovered in a room barricaded from the inside; the smell of brimstone is everywhere... and the unmistakable imprint of a claw is burned into the wall. As more bodies are discovered - their only connection the bizarre but identical manner of death - the world begins to wonder if the Devil has, in fact, come to collect his due.

Gary says: "Be very aware of Pendergast"

These authors have a wonderful way of tossing many stories into the air and managing to keep them all aloft. They do the same with their creatively crafted characters. We have the reappearance of some old friends in this one, along with some new and properly dastardly foes. Preston and Child have conjured up a great mystery that takes us into the darkest depths of ancient evils as we follow our heroes on their international pursuit of truth and justice.

In an ancient tunnel underneath New York City a charnel house is discovered. Inside are 36 bodies all murdered and mutilated more than a century ago. While FBI agent Pendergast investigates the old crimes, identical killings start to terrorize the city. The nightmare has begun. Again.

Typical Pendergast, if you follow. New twists and turns. Historically intriguing. Our hero gets personally involved in this one. Nice to know our steely nerved stoic has a soft underbelly. For those of you who have not read any of this series before, there WILL be blood. It's not for the squeamish, but not overdone, and it is a good mystery.

Hidden deep beneath Manhattan lies a warren of tunnels, sewers, and galleries, mostly forgotten by those who walk the streets above. There lies the ultimate secret of the Museum Beast. When two grotesquely deformed skeletons are found deep in the mud off the Manhattan shoreline, museum curator Margo Green is called in to aid the investigation.

Anastasia says: "Should have made this one into a movie..."

The second book in the Pendergast series is every bit as chilling as the first! Be sure you have read "Relic" first, since several of the characters from that book are involved, and the mystery continues.
Although the characters are the same, they have changed a bit due to their previous experiences in the museum.
Along with weaving a wonderful mystery, the authors take us below street level and "shine a light" on a real life phenomenon evolving there.
This is a wonderful mystery, and a thought provoking story, portrayed through very realistic and sometimes endearing characters.

Under the direction of famed explorer Porter Stone, an archaeological team is secretly attempting to locate the tomb of an ancient pharaoh who was unlike any other in history. Stone believes he has found the burial chamber of King Narmer, the near mythical god-king who united upper and lower Egypt in 3200 B.C., and the archaeologist has reason to believe that the greatest prize of all - Narmer's crown - might be buried with him. No crown of an Egyptian king has ever been discovered, and Narmer's is the elusive crown of the two Egypts.

All in all a good read (listen). Facinating Egyptology stuff woven into the plot. I found that I held my breath a lot! Won't spoil it by telling you why.

The incomparable master of the legal thriller takes us deeper into the labyrinth that is the American justice system, always drawing us in with an irresistible hook, pulling the thread of tension tighter and tighter, and then knocking us out with a conclusion that's never "by the book". Maybe that's why, after more than 20 years of consecutive number-one New York Times best sellers, a new novel by America's favorite storyteller is still a major publishing event.

Who is this guy, and what has he done with John Grisham? Wasn't witty, interesting, thought prvoking, or suspenseful...I only finished it because I had paid for it. So there are good lawyers and sleezy lawyers. Nuff said!

Just days before a massive exhibition opens at the popular New York Museum of Natural History, visitors are being savagely murdered in the museum's dark hallways and secret rooms. Autopsies indicate that the killer cannot be human. But the museum's directors plan to go ahead with a big bash to celebrate the new exhibition, in spite of the murders. Museum researcher Margo Green must find out who - or what - is doing the killing.

I'm in it for the thrill, and easy to please. I love this book. They build it up till you can't stand it anymore, and then change the channel. This book definately kept me awake on the early morning commute to work, and I was very happy to have a well lit parking lot to walk through on my way home.

Tiny Tim, Bob Cratchit, and Ebenezer Scrooge come to marvelous life in Patrick Stewart's critically-acclaimed solo interpretation of A Christmas Carol. The star of X-Men and The Royal Shakespeare Company, Stewart has performed his one-man stage production of this holiday classic to sell-out audiences.
