I commute about an hour each way to work and listen to audio books enroute. Sometimes I don't want to get out of my car because I'm at a really good place!

Charlie Gordon knows that he isn't very bright. At 32, he mops floors in a bakery and earns just enough to get by. Three evenings a week, he studies at a center for mentally challenged adults. But all of this is about to change for Charlie. As part of a daring experiment, doctors are going to perform surgery on Charlie's brain. They hope the operation and special medication will increase his intelligence, just as it has for the laboratory mouse, Algernon.

This is an inspirational book about the women of the bible. I didn't remember there being so many. The author did great background research. It's been interesting to pre-read the passages and then do the weekly study - sometimes a different observation or slant is presented. A good read.

I downloaded this book to listen to on our 48 hr driving trip. OMG, after 4 hrs we were amazed that we were only a fraction through the book. I took a nap twice during the trip and didn't miss a thing (my husband was still listening). If there is an abridge edition, buy it instead.

Everyone should read through the Bible at least once so I chose this audio version to listen to on the way to work. The narrator does an excellent job.
I would like to be able to search for a specific book or chapter to listen to and can't find any way to do it. The Bible is uploaded as 14 sections, with no TOC.

Caitlin Decter is young, pretty, feisty, a genius at math - and blind. Still, she can surf the net with the best of them, following its complex paths clearly in her mind. But Caitlin's brain long ago co-opted her primary visual cortex to help her navigate online. So when she receives an implant to restore her sight, instead of seeing reality, the landscape of the World Wide Web explodes into her consciousness, spreading out all around her in a riot of colors and shapes.

I just love Caitlin and Dr. Karota (sp?).
The concept is very interesting and am courious to see where it goes. The signing apes and the extermination in China was dropped, but I assume that they will reappear in the next book.
The idea of a "webmind" lurking out there is a scary thought, but then Big Brother has been watching for many years, hasn't he?
Really enjoyed having different narrators bringing the story to life.
Overall a good read and am looking forward to the 2nd book in the trilogy.

I was captured by this book from the first word. No secrets are given away, but you get a good idea of how and why things are done the Seal way. The narrator, Holter Graham, does an excellent job and brings life to the written word. I listened to it on the way to work and looked forward to the commute each day. "Mark" and the others are truly brave men who keep our country safe. I could see the hand of God keeping them safe during their missions. Bless them.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.

The majestic beauty of the Italian Alps at the turn of the 20th century is the setting of the first meeting of Enza, a practical beauty, and Ciro, a strapping mountain boy. When Ciro catches the local priest in a scandal, he is banished and sent to hide in America. Soon Enza's family faces disaster and she, too, is forced to go to America. Unbeknownst to each other, they both build fledgling lives in America. Ciro masters shoemaking and Enza takes a factory job until fate intervenes and reunites them. But it is too late....

Watching Enza's and Chero's lives intertwine as their paths crossed continues to give hope that they will get together. I really felt empathy for both of them and was so glad when they finally find each other.
As for the narration - I really enjoyed Annabella's performance, but didn't care for Adriana's, even though I know that she was trying to give a radio, theatrical flair to it. Annabella's voice was so wonderful to listen to and would have preferred to only have her, which is why I only gave a 4 on the performance.

The anchor of The O'Reilly Factor recounts one of the most dramatic stories in American history—how one gunshot changed the country forever. In the spring of 1865, the bloody saga of America's Civil War finally comes to an end after a series of increasingly harrowing battles. President Abraham Lincoln's generous terms for Robert E. Lee's surrender are devised to fulfill Lincoln's dream of healing a divided nation. But one man and his band of murderous accomplices are not appeased....

I was a little skeptical about this book, even though I like Bill O'Reilly. I've never been too interested in history - in school it was all about memorizing dates and names. Bill really brings the details to life and I was drawn into the story. Very good.

To most people, Fiona Bristow seems to have an idyllic life — a quaint house on an island off Seattle’s coast, a thriving dog-training school, and a challenging volunteer job performing canine search and rescue. Not to mention her three intensely loyal Labs. But Fiona got to this point by surviving a nightmare.
