Would you try another book from Maeve Binchy and/or Sile Bermingham?

I think I'll place Author Binchy at the bottom of my wish list. It was a pinball of characters and subplots. The story line too fragmented with new characters popping up continually. It's hard to keep track of 20+ individuals. Sile Bermingham scores high. I would be pleased to listen to another reading.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Frustration!

We've all had "aha!" moments in our lives, times when a sudden revelation surprises us with insight. According to pastor and best-selling author Kyle Idleman, we can experience this same kind of "aha!" in our spiritual lives. With everyday examples and trademark testimonies, Idleman draws on Scripture to reveal how three key elements can draw us closer to God and change our lives for good. Awakening to the reality of our true spiritual condition, we see ourselves and our need for a Savior with renewed honesty.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Someone reading it themselves . . . a very poor performance by reader.

Would you ever listen to anything by Kyle Idleman again?

Yes. Thoroughly enjoyed NOT A FAN. AHA just doesn't measure up, for reasons I contribute to reader.

How could the performance have been better?

Finding someone who projects life and some energy. OMGosh, Kirby's speaking voice will put you to sleep. He seems bored to death. I probably would have enjoyed it more had it been read by the author or someone with a heartbeat.

Jacob Tomsky has worked in hotels for more than a decade, doing everything from valet parking to manning the front desk. He's checked you in, checked you out, separated your white panties from the white bed sheets, parked your car, tasted your room service, cleaned your toilet, denied you a late check out, given you a wake-up call, eaten M&Ms out of your mini-bar, laughed at your jokes, and taken your money. And in Heads in Beds, he pulls back the curtain on the hospitality business.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Someone who would take less offense at the vulgarity, f-bombs, and crude language.

Would you ever listen to anything by Jacob Tomsky again?

    Not likely.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jacob Tomsky?

    No opinion.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Heads in Beds?

    Language would be my focus.

  • When Food is Food & Love is Love: A Step-by-Step Spiritual Program to Break Free from Emotional Eating

Why do we eat? It's more than just a hunger for more food, teaches Geneen Roth. Your relationship with food is a microcosm of your relationship to being alive, and to your beliefs about trust, pleasure, deprivation, and nourishment. Now, Roth offers listeners When Food Is Food and Love Is Love, a deeply spiritual culmination of her groundbreaking work since the best-selling Feeding the Hungry Heart.

Karen says: "Like being a part of one of her lectures"
    "Oh my . . ."
    Overall

Geneen's voice was such a distraction, to the point where I couldn't get past the delivery to hear the point. I probably would have gotten more out of reading the book. Her voice I found very annoying -

In Let's Take the Long Way Home, Pulitzer Prize-winning author Gail Caldwell offers a powerful and moving memoir about her coming-of-age in mid-life and her extraordinary friendship with Caroline Knapp, the author of Drinking: A Love Story. Though they are more different than alike, these two fiercely private, independent women quickly relax into a friendship more profound than either of them expected. They grow increasingly inseparable until, in 2003, Caroline is diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer.

    Lucie says: "Uniquely wonderful book"
    "Just okay . . ."
    Overall

not a book I would say - Oh, you have to read this one. I thought the story line was pretty shallow and disconnected in part.

Official Book Club Selection is Kathy Griffin unplugged, uncensored, and unafraid to dish about what really happens on the road, away from the cameras, and at the star party after the show. (It's also her big chance to score that coveted book club endorsement she's always wanted. Are you there, Oprah? It's me, Kathy.)

    SHEILA says: "Kathy Griffin"
"Transparent from the first to the last chapter"
    Overall

I really enjoyed this book. I thought Kathy revealed her life in a very candid and honest way. She's amazing, funny and very revealing. She's a friend who everyone needs at least one of . . . someone who tells it how it is!
