Welcome to the savage and surprising world of Zoo Story, an unprecedented account of the secret life of a zoo and its inhabitants, both animal and human. Based on six years of research, the book follows a handful of unforgettable characters at Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo: an alpha chimp with a weakness for blondes, a ferocious tiger who revels in Obsession perfume, and a brilliant but tyrannical CEO known as El Diablo Blanco.

    "Good Story - Bad Narrator"
    Overall

This is an interesting story of a zoo and it's inhabitants spanning several decades and continents. I wish I would have bought the hard copy and read it - it was a struggle to listen to this narrator for so many hours. His narration was monotone and sing-song (a contradiction, I know) - this made what could have been an excellent book barely acceptable. After the first 10 minutes I seriously considered contacting customer service to ask for my credit back. But I did persevere and the story was worth it in the end. It was heartbreaking at the end so be forewarned.

When a plague strikes, Anchorage becomes a deadly trap for its citizens. The only two land routes out of the city are cut, forcing people to fight or die as the infection spreads. Danny and Jules, just children, witness the beginning stages of the pestilence. Neil watches helplessly from his office cubicle as Midtown is ravaged. Dr. Caldwell attempts to flee the madness of Providence Hospital, the epicenter of the outbreak. The lives and survival of these few become intertwined in the aftermath of the onslaught.

Would you listen to Infection: Alaskan Undead Apocalypse again? Why?

Yes I would; it's a good story. That said, it's very disappointing and distracting when the narrator mispronounces several of the street and location names in Anchorage and the surrounding area. It would take a 15 minute phone call to straighten him out. I don't know if the author ever came to Anchorage, but the narrator sure hasn't!

Would you listen to World War Z: The Complete Edition (Movie Tie-in Edition) again? Why?

Yes, not right away but I could enjoy this again maybe next year.

What was one of the most memorable moments of World War Z: The Complete Edition (Movie Tie-in Edition)?

I enjoyed the story of the female pilot that crashed and walked out to safety.

    Any additional comments?

It's well done, not exactly a story with beginning, middle, end, but still enjoyable.

The town of Lake Woebegotton, MN is a small town, filled with ordinary (yet above average) people, leading ordinary lives. Ordinary, that is, until the dead start coming back to life, with the intent to feast upon the living! Now this small town of above average citizens must overcome their petty rivalries and hidden secrets in order to survive an onslaught of the dead.

What did you like best about this story?

I like Garrison Keilor and I like zombie stories - this was a perfect blend. Being from the midwest, I felt like I could recognize some of the characters. Others were a little over the top, but then again we're talking zombie story so...

In the aftermath of his terrible war, Ender Wiggin disappeared, and a powerful voice arose: the Speaker for the Dead, who told the true story of the Bugger War. Now, long years later, a second alien race has been discovered by Portuguese colonists on the planet Lusitania. But again the aliens' ways are strange and frightening...again, humans die. And it is only the Speaker for the Dead, who is also Ender Wiggin the Xenocide, who has the courage to confront the mystery...and the truth.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

The male narrator is ok, but the female narrator is highly annoying. If I hadn't enjoyed Ender's Game so much I would have returned this book. The story is slow starting, and it was not until at least 40% of the way through that I was really hooked by it. I'm very glad I finished it and did enjoy the ending.

What made the experience of listening to Hogfather the most enjoyable?

It's a great story that turns childhood fantasy characters on their heads.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Hogfather?

Susan and the poker. I won't spoil it by explaining further.

What about Nigel Planer’s performance did you like?

He is very good at changing his voice to fit the characters, although some additional actors were used as well. I especially enjoyed the actress that spoke for Susan.
