I may try another book by Lee Rowan, but definately not Jim Bowie. There is no dicernable difference between the characters voices which makes following the story extremely difficult.

I couldn't make it through the whole book, so I can't really say.

One couldn't tell the difference between characters in his performance, which made it virtually impossible to follow the story.

Anger. It seems as though the gay love stories on this site are slapped together on very low budget compared to the quality books audible normally offers. It is a shame the same care and quality don't go into this genre.

Do not listen to this series in public as you run the risk of strange looks, and people quickly retreating from you when you seemingly laugh out loud at nothing!

The perfect combination of writer acuity and an amazing narrator make this series a pleasure to read, (listen to?? what IS the correct word when listing to audio books lol).

The characters are well defined and likable, even the ones we don't WANT to like have some quality that makes us want to hear more about them...

I would highly recommend all three books in this series and I sincerely hope we'll see more at some future date.

I love the Lord John series and enjoyed this one even more than the first. That being said the quality of this narrator is no where near that of the narrator of the Outlander series. As I'm used to hearing the characters "voices" as done by her it is somewhat jarring to hear them come out completely different by Jeff Woodman. It is a shame they could not use the same narrator for both series.

However, as I really do enjoy this series and LOVE Lord John I will continue to purchase and read them as long as they are offered.

I can and will read just about anything from magazines to cereal boxes but I couldn't even finish this one. The reader grated on the nerves, the story was implausible even for a harlequin and the plot laughable.

Don't bother

I really enjoyed this book as I do all Debbie Macomber titles. However, I was almost unable to get past the first chapter because of the narration. Partly it was the tinny recording that was to blame,but Ms Garver's attempts at giving each character their own voice ranged from a really aggravating Betty Boop for Goodness to a perpetually slurring Chet with a hair lip. It was only my love of Debbie Macombers stories and my excitement at starting a new series (not to mention one that takes place at Christmas - my favorite time of year) that had me persisting through to the end.

Doubly frustrating was that when the reader narrated any other parts of the story that weren't spoken words of the characters, except for a few spots where she stumbled over a word or two she had quite a pleasant voice. Perhaps this was one of her initial efforts in recording an audio book so I won't write her off just yet but I'll be a little nervous about purchasing any other audio books with her as narrator.

Sadly I found this volume fell short. It was not nearly as steamy as I would have expected...shame really
