In the murky shadows of an alley lies a female’s severed hand. On the tenement rooftop above is the corpse belonging to that hand, a red-haired woman dressed all in black, the body nearly decapitated. Two strands of silver hair — not human — cling to her body. They are Rizzoli’s only clues, but they’re enough for her and medical examiner Maura Isles to make a startling discovery: This violent death had a chilling prequel.

New York book editor Maris Matherly-Reed knows a best seller when she sees one - even if it is just a tantalizing partial manuscript submitted by a writer identified only as P.M.E., with the return address of an obscure island off the Georgia coast. Maris is intrigued enough to search for him.

If you could sum up Envy in three words, what would they be?

    Unexpected; Surprising; Satisfying

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The overall storyline was so unusual - there were stories within the story - plots within the plot and surprises at every turn.

What does Victor Slezak bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

It's isn't enough to say the characters were brought to life - they were right there with you the entire book. It was as if you were part of every scene.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    YES!!

    Any additional comments?

Sandra Brown has always been one of my favorite authors - however, this is by far the best novel I have read/listened to over the past few years! It really kept your attention and provided so many surprises that I wanted to keep driving just to listen to the book!

Myron Bolitar has always dreamed about the femme fatale walking into his office and asking for help. The woman standing in his doorway has killer curves all right: She’s eight months pregnant, which kind of ruins the fantasy. Former tennis star Suzze T and her rock star husband, Lex, are both clients, and over the years Myron has negotiated his share of contracts for the power pair. But now Lex has disappeared and Suzze is in tears, fearing the online rumors questioning the baby’s paternity have driven away Lex.

I am enjoying the Harlan Coben books on audio. It allows me to drown out everything around me - generally that means airport noise! Listening to the words allows your imagination to portray each and every character. Of course I love Myron, but he really brings to life each and every individual. Absolute recommendation!

To most people, Fiona Bristow seems to have an idyllic life — a quaint house on an island off Seattle’s coast, a thriving dog-training school, and a challenging volunteer job performing canine search and rescue. Not to mention her three intensely loyal Labs. But Fiona got to this point by surviving a nightmare.

Sandra Brown always tells a good story - this time is no different. When she is telling the story she introduces many characters and pretty soon you are getting ideas as to who could have committed the murder. There are some unexpected twists - but the ending is most satisfactory - and of course, their is passion and love!
