The story had some really great qualities that I almost missed due to the graphic violence described which is why I did not rate it high. I was not expecting the violence and almost did not continue the book, until I came up with the idea to fast forward through the violent scenes. I wish I was aware of the nature of the story before purchasing this book.
My daughter loves all the American Girls stories, but greatly enjoys listening to this one on her own. We love print versions and audio editions as each have their place.

Yes. It was an interesting story with well defined characters. I only wish that the ending felt more like an ending. I now realize there are two more books in the series and hope that they will more completely conclude the main story of this book.
