  • The Silkworm

    • UNABRIDGED (17 hrs and 22 mins)
    • By Robert Galbraith
    • Narrated By Robert Glenister
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

When novelist Owen Quine goes missing, his wife calls in private detective Cormoran Strike. At first, Mrs. Quine just thinks her husband has gone off by himself for a few days - as he has done before - and she wants Strike to find him and bring him home. But as Strike investigates, it becomes clear that there is more to Quine's disappearance than his wife realizes. The novelist has just completed a manuscript featuring poisonous pen-portraits of almost everyone he knows.

H James Lucas says: "A well-worn genre enlivened with fresh characters"
    "Great Characters, Strong Story"
What made the experience of listening to The Silkworm the most enjoyable?

The narrator did a great job of distinguishing the different characters with slight changes in accent and cadence. He brought Cormorant Strike alive for me, in both books.

What other book might you compare The Silkworm to and why?

This book is reminiscent of Red Sparrow for me as there are a number of characters to keep track of, but both books are compelling, interesting and have fabulous main characters.

    Which scene was your favorite?

There were so many! But I would have loved to have seen the interview at the publisher's house and the final confrontation scene on film. I also adore the relationship between Cormorant and Robin - their respect for each other, love for their work, and unwitting attraction makes for great listening.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

An intriguing mystery with great characters. A must "see".

    Any additional comments?

This second novel is as strong as the first in my opinion. We learn a little more about Strike and Robin's pasts and the mystery is well developed. A GREAT listen!!!

  • The Twelve Clues of Christmas: A Royal Spyness Mystery

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 8 mins)
    • By Rhys Bowen
    • Narrated By Katherine Kellgren
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me—well, actually, my true love, Darcy O’Mara, is spending a feliz navidad tramping around South America. Meanwhile, Mummy is holed up in a tiny village called Tiddleton-under-Lovey with that droll Noel Coward! And I’m snowed in at Castle Rannoch with my bumbling brother, Binky, and sourpuss sister-in-law, Fig.

Felicia The Geeky Blogger says: "It was a great Christmas Who-Done-It!"
    "Adore this series!!"
If you could sum up The Twelve Clues of Christmas in three words, what would they be?

    Fun, Romantic, Clever

Who was your favorite character and why?

That's tricky. I love Darcy (but who doesn't love a Darcy character), Queenie always makes me laugh, and I enjoy trying to figure out Granddad's cockney slang! But Georgie has to be my most favourite character. I love how she wars with herself between the new opportunities of the time for women and the old fashioned expectations of her royal relatives. Go Georgie!!!

What does Katherine Kellgren bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She is one of those narrators who can give each character a completely distinctive voice, from the posh tones of Georgiana to the cockney accent of her grandfather and the nasal tones of Queenie. Katherine's narration makes these books for me.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This was my favourite of the series so far, but each one just seems to get better than the last. I laughed many times, but the mystery of this one was really well constructed.

  • Natural Born Charmer

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 1 min)
    • By Susan Elizabeth Phillips
    • Narrated By Anna Fields
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Dean Robillard is the Chicago Stars' hotshot quarterback. Not only does he have lightening reflexes on the field, he is also utterly gorgeous. First seen in the critically acclaimed Match Me If You Can, Dean is trying to recover (both mentally and physically) from a shoulder injury by taking a road trip. Along the way he meets Blue, a beautiful woman down on her luck, and as they spend more time together their attraction grows.

MSEreads says: "Another CHARMER from SEP!"
    "Best of the best"

Of all the romantic fiction I've listened to, this was by far the best. I laughed and laughed and cried and loved each character. You will not be disappointed.
