"Bert"
This is the first book that I have read by this author. I am now half way through the CD's and am astounded at the character build up, the emotional grasp of the characters, and the titilation as you are left with at each chapter. For instance, at the end of one chapter, a character is in a dark garage aware that someone is there with her. Several chapters later in the beginning of the chapter, this same character is now in a concrete tomb, trying to claw her way out and not knowing why she is there. I am already looking for more books by this author. I like her main character --strong, sharp, intelligent, sensitive, and kind. I can't wait to listen to more of her books. I recommend this book to highly.
"A nice love story"
I would listen to it again, but there are better authors out there. Good description of character. Good character development, but not as deep as I would have liked. You do get to know the characters. The characters are familiar. one doesn't know she's gay. One does. They fall in love after a bit of yearning and longing. ....... and the beat goes on.
I did like the love scenes. Don't get to hear too many love scenes in books between women.
I like her performance. I wasn't put to sleep and I was able to enjoy the book with her interpretation of the characters as she read.
My favorite part is during the first love scene where she begins to realize what she is and feels happy. Not a lot of conflict which isn't always the case with someone coming out to themselves.
"Nice Scenery"
I think I would add more action. It is a narration. A drawing of words. A still piece, but pretty. Personally though, I would have like to see more Vincent Van Gogh in this bit of writing.
I really didn't like this book. It moved too slow. Too much narration
I am not sure if there was a lot you could do with this book, but the narrator put me to sleep. I got through 3/4 of the book and then laid it to rest.
If I need a sleeping pill, go see the movie. It would be healthier than the sleeping pill.
I like narrations that paint pictures of small towns, small settings, but as much as I tried to see the beautiful scenery, it just was too boring for me. I couldn't finish it as a result.
"Great stalking mystery"
It was exciting. It builds background info on the characters and why they are they way they are
The tension and love between the two women.
fist read, but enjoyable
Yes, though it was very predictable and an easy read.
Easy read, predictable from the very beginning, but still really good.
"Fantastic Writer and Story"
I love the descriptions and the exploration of the characters. I love the way, I felt like I really knew and understood the characters from the main character's perspective. The settings and all events equally were visually written well which made this book so interesting, not to mention the plot and main events in the story
The main character was a lesbian, but that was not what the story was about. It was a murder mystery, much like Tony novels
She is an excellent reader that allows you to feel the emotions of the characters.
Yes, but alas, couldn't due to my responsibilities. Had I been retired, I would have listened to the end or till I finally fell asleep which was hard considering the story.
I liked that the main character was a "normal" lesbian character, not your normally stereotyped, defamed ones. This story is one that main stream, non homophobic readers would really enjoy.
"Gloriasly funny"
Very funny, very campy. Very unseriously. Nancy is a very nice nurse.
We should be so lucky to have one as competent and naive as her
When Nancy so unpretentiously decides that she likes her detective idol.
Sounds just like Nancy as a character. REally funny and enjoyable
Nancy and her detective girlfriend
I hope audible gets more of this serious and I intend to buy everyone or them. It is a very light hearted read.
"Excellent for the price"
I have heard much better, but I thoroughly enjoyed it especially for the price!
The book is pretty predictable, but again, enjoyable. I don't get offended if I can guess what is going to happen. It did have me guessing at times.
The reading was adequate, but I think has lots of potential. She didn't interfere in the story.
No, several sitting, but I looked foward to listening to it.
I really enjoyed the book, and would recommend it to anyone.
"Enjoyable, easy, listen"
The narrator did a great job of a believable druid. Ilistened to it twice just because the narrator was so good
I like druids. Enjoyable story that yo could pretty much guess what was going to happen next. Not for those who want to think and ponder, just a nice, delightful plot. Characters were very well described both in appearance and personality.
The main character is
"Sci fi mystery"
I have read all of this series. Hard to put down. You can see facts and thoughts of characters as the mystery is revealed. Often two stories going on but are connected. Well written and narrated.
"Narration Monotonous"
Normally I can get through readings that are below average, but for my first Dresden book, I found the reading monotonous. Story seems good, but when Drsden is in pain, sick ecetera, a minimal emotional whisper gets in the way of the drama that is happening. Very disappointed. No more Dresden for me even if writing is superb. My third graders could do a better job of reading than the narrator. Better to read this book than to listen to a whispered book. When there is passion and emotion is happening, I want to hear and feel it. Not the case with this narration of the book.
"Three stories in one!"
This is a book that I will be listening to many times. There are three stories going on as the granddaughter, her grandmother and her great grandmother are revealed. The main character receives an inheritance of land and a mystery from her grandmother. The 3 stories unravel and are intertwined as you learn more about the fully developed characters. Descriptions, Suspense, Outstanding ending, Oh my!
