Would you listen to 7th Heaven again? Why?

I would not listen to it again. There is no compelling reason to listen again.

What was one of the most memorable moments of 7th Heaven?

The ending of the book was had a great plot twist.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator just does not have the ability to clearly differentiate vocally between the characters. At times, I found it difficult to follow who was talking during a conversation.

In this novel from number-one New York Times-best-selling author J. D. Robb, the newly promoted captain of the NYPSD and his wife return a day early from their vacation, looking forward to spending time with their bright and vivacious 16-year-old daughter, who stayed behind. Not even their worst nightmares could have prepared them for the crime scene that awaits them inside.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

All of the "In Death" series keep me on the edge of my seat. With the suspense, drama, and humor, I can't wait to find out what happens next.

Have you listened to any of Susan Ericksen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to 34 books and several short stories that Ericksen has narrated. No one compares to her.

What does Susan Ericksen bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Ericksen does a superb job of giving every character their own voice and personality. No one does it better.

    Any additional comments?

I really think that Robb did a great job of character development in this book. Morris has always been a bit character, but in this novel, he becomes a major focal point and Robb does an excellent job with bringing him to the fore-front.

Her career in homicide has taken her into the darkest depths of New York City’s underground - and sometimes Lieutenant Eve Dallas feels more comfortable in those kinds of places than in the high-rise, high-society world of her billionaire husband, Roarke. But while she’s no party girl, she’s managing to have a reasonably good time at the celebrity-packed bash celebrating the debut of The Icove Agenda. This time it’s Eve, not Roarke, who’s a guest of honor, since the film is based on one of her famous cases. Her partner, Peabody, is practically giddy....

It was one of Eve Dallas’s earliest takedowns, back in her uniform days. A monster named Isaac McQueen had been abducting young victims and leaving them scarred in both mind and body. Thanks to Eve, he wound up where he belonged, removed from civilized society in Rikers. But he’s not behind bars anymore. After his escape, McQueen has two things in mind. One is to take up where he left off, preying on the young and innocent - when necessary, with the help of a female partner all too willing to be manipulated and to aid and abet his crimes.

If you could sum up New York to Dallas in three words, what would they be?

    Don't Underestimate Dallas

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I couldn't stop listening. Between the suspense, heart-wrenching drama, and side-splitting banter, I couldn't wait to find out what was next.

What does Susan Ericksen bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Erickson can bring the characters to life with her vocalizations and accents. I really don't think I would appreciate the characters as much if I would have read the book.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Any of the scenes with the abducted girls and their treatment really ripped my heart out.

In a New York City fifty years in the future, Detective Eve Dallas tracks down those who break the law - including the ones sworn to uphold it. Eve Dallas and her partner, Peabody, are following up on a brutal, senseless crime - an elderly grocery owner killed by three stoned punks for nothing more than kicks and snacks. And for the first time, Peabody is primary detective on the case, which means she has to get used to a new level of authority and responsibility. Good thing she learned the ropes from a master like Eve. But after rounding up the perps, Peabody stumbles upon a much trickier situation.

I loved the fact that Peabody took a bigger part of the story line.

What about Susan Ericksen’s performance did you like?

Erickson has the amazing ability to vary her vocalizations and accents to make it easy and enjoyable to discern which character is speaking. She is the best.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

All of the Eve Dallas books make me laugh out loud.

When a murder disrupts the Irish vacation she is taking with her husband, Roarke, Eve realizes that no place is safe - not an Irish wood or the streets of the manic city she calls home. But nothing prepares her for what she discovers upon her return to the cop shop in New York City....

What did you love best about Indulgence in Death?

I love the humorous banter between Dallas and Peabody, Rourke, or Summerset.

What other book might you compare Indulgence in Death to and why?

I have tried to compare the "In Death" series to the "Women's Murder Club" series by Patterson and Paetro. Similar backdrop - super successful, female cop in a big city. But "Women's Murder Club" just cannot hold a candle to Dallas and her team. The drama, passion, and humor is just not there with Patterson and Paetro.

Have you listened to any of Susan Ericksen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to all of the "In Death" series and Ericksen is ALWAYS on her game. She is by far the best narrator that I have ever heard for this genre.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Susan Ericksen, in my opinion, is the best narrator that I have ever heard on an audio book. Her vocal characterizations are spot on.

As with all the books in the series, I planned my days around when I could listen to the book.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The only thing that I would change would be the narrator. The story is fine, but the narration left much to be desired.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the fact that three books were included for the price of one.

How could the performance have been better?

The narrator just didn't have the ability to clearly differentiate her vocal tone between characters. I guess I am spoiled by Susan Eriksen who narrates the J.D. Robb "In Death" series.

Do you think Women's Murder Club Box Set, Volume 2 needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

There are several more follow up books to this set.
