I can't say enough about this book. It's lofty and hi-concept and not very detail-oriented, but sometimes that's just the thing and the philosophy discussed within is well-worth the listen for anyone running or managing a business or looking to start one. It should be a must-read for anybody in this boat.
This book reads like an abridged version, as it's quick, light in details and rather short. That being said, the topic doesn't require much detail and perhaps is best delivered like this anyway. While I may argue with a few points in the book based off of my experiences, Seth's insights are pretty sharp and cohesive with his overall marketing vision and well worth the listening. While I wouldn't say I walked away with a ton of insights, I am glad I own this book and listened to it and would recommend it to others. I definitely enjoy the fact that Seth reads his own books and his delivery is superb.
I am a marketing professional with plenty of varied experiences and not only found this book insightful and useful, but also accurate and poignant for my profession. It's definitely well-worth the reading and will give most traditional and even non-traditional marketing professionals some good insights into the field. The book is read nicely and moves at the perfect pace, covering just enough detail so as not to get bored or to go overboard.
I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for the writer to lead you to (and develop) insights. But if you're looking for a well-written and very detailed synopsis of how several well-known businesses succeeded, then it's right up your alley.
This was not read by the author, which is almost always less fulfilling of a 'listen'.
This would make a great series of books, but the title is rather misleading and inaccurate. They author makes almost no logical connection between "creating demand" and the successes of the several businesses they refer to. The connection of "demand" and their successes is completely implied, and the book is really like several thesis papers melded together to for a book on what several companies did right to succeed. While this is useful, interesting and even entertaining, there are very few insights available in this book and all of them have to be self-drawn since the author is really just retelling stories and doesn't make an attempt to develop an argument or "statement."
This is a great book, chock full of insights and useful ideas. It's without a doubt one of the best business books I've ever read. It's well written, entertaining, and most importantly, totally useful from beginning to end.
This turned on more "light bulbs" than any book I've read in the last 5 years.
It would have been way better as an abridged book. I almost never say that, but the explanations of things go on-and-on and the overall concept of a particular idea would have been far better captured by just telling us the idea in general and not giving an examples, especially since nothing I've heard in here is complicated or new. I can't even get through this book and this is the first audio book out of dozens I've said that about ever!
Cut down on all the long-winded examples. Edit an abridged version please!
All of the unnecessary examples.
The information isn't very insightful. I've only made it half-way through but I haven't encountered a single ah-ha idea, and that's what I expect from a good book - at least one of them! If you're a young college student who hasn't already experienced life, then this book might be pretty useful, but I feel like everything I've heard is just common sense in business, life and relationships and if you've listened/read many non-fiction or self-help books, you'll know all this info already.
This is definitely a useful book and brilliant in its intent, but the PDF that you have access to just isn't adequate for the organizational visual you'll need as a reference. The author constantly refers to visual elements that are in the real book that you won't have and it makes fully understanding this book pretty tough. If you have both, then you have the best of both worlds and don't have to read a book, yet will have the physical form of it reference. Maybe they'll listen to this review and add some additional PDFs for reference. All and all the techniques in this book are highly useful and help anyone who doesn't want to work on a philosophy of organization just to get organized.
I would listen to this again, and as a matter of fact, listened to it a second time just a week after I finished the first time. There were so many good points and I wasn't able to take notes, that I just felt like another listen was mandatory.
This book definitely lit a fire under my bottom and there are a few key points that anyone wishing for a better life should pay close attention to. Tim's philosophy on living is somewhat unique and quite refreshing... a bit against the grain in a good way. My only disappointment was that Tim wasn't the actual voice actor for the book, but then again, after you listen to it, you'll understand exactly why he didn't do the read himself, so... perhaps that's not a complaint. It is a bit long and there are times where the book seems to veer off course from the main point of the book, such as when he gets too, detailed about traveling and such, but who can really complain about extra info that some people might find useful and interesting.
It seems like a good book, but this is one where I'd look for an abridged version (and I'm usually an unabridged book kind of guy). I felt like the stories and details went on-and-on without getting to the point. If you love stories to help you get through a non-fiction book, then you'll enjoy the writing/delivery style of this book, but if you're like me and want a to-the-point book highlighting important concepts quickly, you'll be looking for the fast-forward or 1.5x button right away. Overall though, it's a good book and worth the listen.... just make some extra time for the superfluous stories.
