In this unique and invaluable guide, Dr. Meg Meeker, a pediatrician with more than 20 years' experience counseling girls, reveals that a young woman's relationship with her father is far more important than we've ever realized. To become a strong, confident woman, a daughter needs her father's attention, protection, courage, and wisdom. Dr. Meeker shares the 10 secrets every father needs to know in order to strengthen or rebuild bonds with his daughter and shape her life - and his own - for the better.

Would you listen to Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters again? Why?

Yes, @least yearly. Dr Meeker combines jarring statistics and personal experience to paint a picture of the "soup" of today's culture that our daughter's are currently swimming in. She shows how a father can enter the battle to fight alongside his daughter and protect her from who the culture tells her she needs to be in order to be accepted. She provides insight and concepts more than steps or a to do list (though there is a few "You have to do this') to help a father create or fortify his position of strength.

What did you like best about this story?

Dr. Meeker relays personal stories from the young girls she has served over the years and uses these stories to strengthen her overall message.

What did you learn from Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters that you would use in your daily life?

A broad picture of today's Culture, the real dangers that our daughters face, and insight that I can use to walk my daughter towards that which is beneficial for her health and mental well being.

  • Linchpin: Are You Indispensable?

There used to be two teams in every workplace: management and labor. Now there’s a third team, the linchpins. These people invent, lead (regardless of title), connect others, make things happen, and create order out of chaos. They figure out what to do when there’s no rule book. They delight and challenge their customers and peers. They love their work, pour their best selves into it, and turn each day into a kind of art.

"Apply these principles and stand out!"

Would you consider the audio edition of Linchpin to be better than the print version?

I have 42k miles of windshield time per year so I am biased towards audio books. However, since it is Seth talking, he keeps it moving and uses the intended inflection.

Other than making notes on the pages, I personally don't see any advantage to the print version for this particular book as there is only one, maybe two, simple illustrations that he has to explain in the audio, but it's easy to get a mental picture.

Seth is the man! This is a must read

What did you like best about this story?

The damon, lizard brain, and true self. All worth the price of admission.

Seth makes it clear that the Industrial Age is over along with the concept of the legacy employee. He points out how very rare it is to find a well paying job with benefits and a pension and goes as far as to say "There are no good jobs like this anymore."

We are (according to Seth) in the beginning a new age that is being fueled by the internet and a gift economy.
I'm not going to give away the concept, just know he lays it out well and it will probably cause you to rearrange some things inside your dome.

What about Seth Godin’s performance did you like?

I like that I felt like he was explaining something to me rather than reading to me.

    Any additional comments?

Seriously, my favorite of the 11 audiobooks that I have downloaded.

Seth is already, hands down, my favorite blogger and for those who don't know him, Seth is a super smart dude.

In this book he makes a compelling case for us to do our best work and give gifts to those we work with. This (according to Seth) is how we can be indispensable/highly valued in our particular line of work.
He says showing up on time and following the rules just doesn't cut it like it used to.

Seth normally talks about managing, business, and marketing but this book is more geared towards an owner as well as an employee or entrepreneur.

Seth Godin has crazy insight on all things business and has taught me much.

  • Thou Shall Prosper: Ten Commandments for Making Money

A practical approach to creating wealth-based on the established principles of ancient Jewish wisdom-made accessible to people of all backgrounds. The ups and downs of the economy prove Rabbi Daniel Lapin's famous principle that the more things change, the more we need to depend upon the things that never change. There's no better source for both practical and spiritual financial wisdom than the time-tested knowledge found in the ancient Jewish faith and its culture.

Jeremy says: "Great book, changes the way you think of money"

Where does Thou Shall Prosper rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's a lot of content, but I would say it is in my top 5 for sure

What other book might you compare Thou Shall Prosper to and why?

I have never heard the Jewish/Judeo-Christian take on $ before. The section where the Rabbi contrasts the view the U.S. has on making money and what his God says using biblical and cultural expamples, present and historic is fascinating. I don't know of a book that clarifies a theological perspective of making, having, giving, and spending money so well. This studied explanation of what a healthy view of money from the Judeo-Christian/Biblical perspective, I think would be hard to compare.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Promoted thought towards and changed my perspective of my role in the workplace and the fruit of my labor.
