In one year Julia Sweeney got a divorce (amicable), bought a small bungalow in Hollywood, and looked forward to a life that said, "Here dwells a happily single young woman!" But then the axe fell. Her younger brother, Mike, was diagnosed with terminal cancer and moved in with her. Her parents came to be with Mike and moved in with her, too. Julia was now on seriously intimate terms with the people she had spent half a lifetime growing up away from.

There are long empty spaces on this recording. The speaker is not pausing, there are at least half a dozen blank spots on the recording, no background sound. Weird. The the story is pretty good and very funny at times if you like dark humor.

Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning? In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

Exhilarating, fascinating -left me wanting more! Their world in this book is so foreign to the reader you don’t know what to expect. The main characters are engaging and you care about them right from the start. I would recommend this book to anyone of any age looking for an adventure (except this book is not for the very young). I’ve never done this before; I bought the second book in the series before I was even finished listening to this one; its that good!
