  • Don't Look Down

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 51 mins)
    • By Jennifer Crusie, Bob Mayer
    • Narrated By Patrick G. Lawlor, Renee Raudman

Lucy Armstrong is a director of television commercials who's just been recruited to finish a four-day action-movie shoot. But she arrives on the set to discover that the directing staff has quit, the makeup artist is suicidal, the stars are egomaniacs, the stunt director is her ex-husband, and the lead actor has just acquired as an adviser a Green Beret who has the aggravating habit of always being right.

    "REALLY bad"

I decided to buy this audible book because I'm a huge fan of Jennifer Crusie (and her humor). I thought I would try her collaboration with Bob Mayer, but I have to say, I can't listen to it past two hours, it is simply BAD. Bad narration, bad characters, bad everything. I can't bring myself to go back to it! I can't believe I spent the money for this - it wasn't even a CREDIT or I wouldn't feel so bad. The narration, immediately, turned me off because it sounds like they're in some sort of tunnel or something. I also agree with a previous review, where'd they get this girl voice for Pepper? Plus the little girl is obnoxious. The whole thing is just so strange and so unlike the other Jennifer books I've read. I'll stick to just books on Jennifer alone in the future.

Cannie Shapiro never wanted to be famous. The smart, sharp, plus-sized pop culture reporter was perfectly content writitng about other people's lives in the pages of the Philadlphia Examiner. But the day she opened up a national women's magazine to find out that her ex-boyfriend has been chronicling their ex-sex life is the day her life changes forever.

    "Depressing at times"
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Yes, it was good and entertaining, but at times depressing. The beginning of the book was light and funny but then as it went on it got heavier.

  • Outlander

    • UNABRIDGED (33 hrs and 8 mins)
    • By Diana Gabaldon
    • Narrated By Davina Porter
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....

Lulu says: "The Reason for the Existence of Audio Books"
    "Very different"

I've never read a book that was quite so different. I had no idea where it was going much of the time, but it was always very interesting. It did get quite lengthy and the author spent a lot of time explaining things, maybe a little too much. But because of its length, it was nice to know it wasn't going to end any time soon.

  • Match Me If You Can: A Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 18 mins)
    • By Susan Elizabeth Phillips
    • Narrated By Anna Fields
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Annabelle is tired of being the lone failure in a family of overachievers. She's endured dead-end jobs and a broken engagement. But that's going to change now that she's taken over her late grandmother's matchmaking business. All Annabelle has to do is land the Windy City's hottest bachelor as her client, and she'll be the most sought-after matchmaker in town.

    Daniela says: "Guilty Pleasure"

I really liked this book, but it was very predictable. It was funny and kept me a little interested, but I wasn't dying to get back to it.

  • Official Book Club Selection

    • ABRIDGED (6 hrs and 25 mins)
    • By Kathy Griffin
    • Narrated By Kathy Griffin

Official Book Club Selection is Kathy Griffin unplugged, uncensored, and unafraid to dish about what really happens on the road, away from the cameras, and at the star party after the show. (It's also her big chance to score that coveted book club endorsement she's always wanted. Are you there, Oprah? It's me, Kathy.)

"Loved it - and I'm not even gay!"

I loved this audio book! I'm a big Kathy Griffin fan and she did not disappoint with this book. She is very outspoken and brutally honest with her life and that I admire very much. In the beginning I noticed that the narration seemed to be quite low-key, but by the end of the book? It was like listening to her in one of her acts - fantastic! Once I started listening, I couldn't turn it off.
