This is an intriguing and interesting book about New York after 9-11. It focuses on a wealthy European banker with few friends who spends most of his leisure time playing cricket with third world immigrants after his wife flees New York. It is lucid and well narrated (the Indian/Trinidad accents seem authentic.) Its is intriguing and a bit of a mystery. I enjoyed it.
There is a lot going on in this book. That makes it a good diversion but it also makes it seem contrived after a while. The book is diverting and the reader is first rate. I think the reader did a fantastic job.
This was an enjoyable and unpredictable English mystery/thriller. Too often it is easy to guess the solution to a mystery. This book is complex, it jumps between World War II era and the present. The characters were interesting and the narrator was quite good.
