This book is definitely among my favorites to listen to, ever. I have listened to it at least three times through now and it delivers something new every time. It is very well written in Richard Dawkins' distinctive style - smart, humorous, thoughtful and engaging. I can imagine Dawkins to be a superb teacher who makes his students fall in love with the subject. The narration is amazing. The best out of all the books I have ever listened to. In fact all of Dawkins' books are a true pleasure to listen - he is very passionate about his subject and knows it inside and out. Sometimes i listen to one of his books (I have bought every single one of them and they are all fantastically narrated) just because it is such a pleasure to listen to him and Lalla Ward perform it.
The story comes to life when narrated by Richard Dawkins and Lalla Ward. I have read all of Dawkins' books and they are brilliant, but I definitely prefer to listen to him narrate, so I have bought and listened to all of the available audio versions as well. Ever since getting an audio version of a book i never went back to the paper version. That is probably because the books are written in a conversational style (which makes them so lovely to read) so to listen to an actual conversation is real fun.
Definitely yes, it didn't take me long to finish - and start again - it kept me up some nights
I listen to this meditation every day, it's my favorite. and it seems to really be working in my life and job. It's a great addition to other education and self-reflection.
also it helps fall asleep at night and sleep the night through. takes time to learn to focus but the effort is worth it.
I recommend this to everyone struggling with being too attached to their ego reactions and defensiveness.
loved it! will read it again, best book on feminism I've ever read. actually one of the best books ever!
the book is very informative. I like the different chapters on society, history, problems etc very well organised
the people and the problems
I wasn't particularly impressed with the narrator. Quite monotonous. If the book wasnt so interesting i wouldn't have kept listening
Geeking out on Japan
my favourite part was about developing emotional maturity. this is a great reference book, for everyone, not only the ethical sluts amongst us. I don't think i'm one, but the book was still very relevant to me.
i would but not the last chapter (on faith). It really put me off, when the author started going on about faith in God. It is not relevant and not helpful. Being able to finish things has nothing to do with religious affiliation.
great tips, the 6 main tips were fantastic. And he elaborates well on them.
the narrator sounds exactly like a Bridget would, as well as the Mother and even the guys. She does a superb job, incredible acting talent. The book jumps off the earphones :)
none so far, it's the best, i read it twice in a row already
no particular one
Never read the print, i don't think it exists. But audio is definitely better
the professor acting out different accents throughout the course, to make his point. it was hilarious and added to the enjoyment of learning.
his knowledge of the languages, his engaging presentation (jokes and imitations), his references to personal experience. in general the presentation was the best i have ever listened to.
this was the worst audio course i have ever purchased. The information is outdated and simplistic. If i wanted to know about government mandated food pyramid i don't need to buy a course in medical myths. Utter waste of money.
none by this lecturer. I love the courses overall, so another one probably.
update the info
I loved the arguments, the thoroughness with which Richard Dawkins approaches the religion and 'god' debate and the language that draws you in. I also loved the readers both Richard and Lalla, they showed excellent inflection and are very engaging in their reading.
bible references are really creepy, the argument for 'being good because of god', arguments for/against god and religion, the issue of children's brainwashing.. everything was great really
their emotions and passion for the subject, I have more of Richard Dawkins books but this is the first one i listened to, i'm now hooked. am buying more audio books read by him. He's a real presenter, it's a pleasure listening to Richard and Lalla.
What you must consider if you want to talk or think about religion and god.
