"ok but slow"
This book is good and well written but drags a bit and goes on and on. If you are really into weather then get it but not really a light listen.
"Brilliant"
Great story - regardless of your biases or political standings just to read the story gives you a look at how unfair life can be and how the governement can jst mess up sometimes. Great book moves along well and keeps you interetsted
"Dry as toast"
Really sounded like an interesting topic and probably would have been if condensed into much less but the repetitive chapters and info left me feeling like i was sitting in a congressional hearing...skip the book, read wikipedia about it instead
"great listen"
Nice read/listen. Noahs experience on NPR weaves this into a great story - not too long - not too short. A+++
"whine, whine, whine..."
Ok - heres an english guy who goes around America whining and complaining about everything and offering little insight or substance about much of anything except how bad he has it and why he hasn't made it in television. Heres the reason - hes boring! Only the last chapter is any good. The rest is junk. Skip this one and listen to Michael Palin for a true travelogue. Im sorry I spent the money on this...
"Painful"
This book is ok in content but the voice of the reader is so difficult to get through that it makes the listening experince so hard. Her voice is like a teenage cheerleader yelling at you while you drive down the road. I love the simpsons and I like Nancys story as she writes it here. Its just that when you are listening to her read at normal voice and then she yells something at ten times the normal volume out of the blue like "NO WAYYYYYYYYYYYY" I jump and I dont need that scare when Im trying to listen to a book. Maybe this might be a better read than a listen? Save your credits and buy something less yelling and more read bya more normal toned reader. This book is actually streesful to listen to....
"funny"
good read, make you nave want to eat fast food again!!
"great read"
really good read.. quick and informative...well written and interesting even to someone like me who knew nothing about the subject
"take a pass"
Its like listening to Grandpa Simpson go on and on about how much life was better back in the good 'ole days. I am an avid outdoorsman and kayaker and thought this book might have some good insight but couldnt find any. It was like hanging around at a senior center and listening to old folks complain. Save time and money and skip this one....
"like riding around with your grumpy grandfather"
OK - this is the long boring narration of an old guy drivng around the country in his car doing nothing but complaining and he manages to do so all without ever leaving his vehicle. Sound impossible? well its not. This guy goes on and on about the most boring stuff and does nothing but complain and whine. This isn't how it used to be in the old days... this sucks...I could do that much better... etc. He drives straight for two days sleeping at nights in a motel right off the freeway never straying from the interstate to find the real America. Sounds interesting if you are into complete boredom. If you want to listen to some good travel writers stick to Bryson or Least-Heat Moon. Put this book on your skip list and save yourself the bore of a lifetime......
