"Not much to engage"
Someone who is interested in erotic fiction laced with a very slight story line.
NO, I like most of the fantasy books I have listened to.

"Romance, mystery, humour and horror"
This was a great story. It was a tiny bit slow to start, then it unfolded through different stages with lots of interesting ideas and an undertone of suspense. It was very easy to visualise and would make a great mini series in the SF vein of Torchwood or Dr Who.
It was also light and easy to listen to, with the interaction between characters providing lots of wry humour. I liked it and could not put it down towards the end.
"Enjoyable"
I am enjoying this first book of the series. Having been introduced to Miss Fisher by the Australian TV series, I am glad to have found the series.
"Exciting and Original"
Among the top 5
I liked the different characters and the way they each looked at what was happening from their own point of view. I liked the gentle philosophy. The characters were interesting and sympathetic. Each one developed through the story. The story moved from the real world into the alternate reality very smoothly.
I thought his performance was excellent
I couldn't stop listening to it
I recommend it to people who enjoy fantasy novels
"Delightful and precocious"
Funny, educational, absorbing
The climax where Theodosia is facing the Serpents of Chaos in the pyramid.
I like good children's books, they usually have a level of humour that adults pick up . This one is just beautiful.
"A bit drawn out"
Probably not
Information about that period in Scotland's history was very interesting.
Probably not
I ended up skipping a lot of it as the story seemed so drawn out. I was more interested in the modern day love story than the earlier one.
This is a romance which is not my interest area. However the history was very good.
"Not to my taste"
I found this book did not hold together and the characters were shallow. I was expecting a witty satire, but had to stop listening after the first few chapters, as it wasn't holding my interest.
"Enjoyable mystery"
This is the third book I've listened to about the Peculiar Crimes Unit. There was just a bit too much history in this one, but apart from that it was compelling and I had to listen whenever I could to get to the end. I like the way the books are related and follow on from each other, and have become fond of the characters. The narrator is very good.
"great story"
I loved this book. It's full of gentle nostalgia and yet not too heavy. If you liked "to Say Nothing of the Dog" you'll like this one.
"disappointing"
Disappointing after Wicked! This book lacks the great characters or perhaps they are not given flesh. The world of Oz is also not sketched out as well as it could be, even for one who is familiar with Wicked! The way of telling the story by looking backwards makes it very hard to keep the momentum of the story going, and it seems to require considerable patience to keep going. in fact, I gave up!
