"Another excellent African story from Bryce C."
No because I've already listened to it. It's a long book.
Africa. I like Bryce's interpretation and painting of Africa.
If you like Bryce Courtenay, you won't be dissapointed.
"A worthy sequel to Pillars"
You need to read Pillars of the Earth first. This sequel then starts a few hundred years after the end of Pillars and makes references to the characters and events in Pillars. The story however stands up on its own, and is a thrilling read from start to finish, just like the original.
"Pillars of a great book"
It's up there. Ken Follet is my new favourite author, next to Bryce Courtenay.
It's one of those books where you get the full story. From the start of the characters' lives to the end.
John Lee is an excellent narrator. Can't fault him in any books I've listened to so far.
Jack, Aliena, Phillip, Tom, many memorable characters.
"Thoroughly Enjoyed"
The basis on fact and the authors creation of fictional but believable characters to explain the impact of peoples lives through WW1.
Earl Fitzherbert
Yes, especially towards the end.
"Not bad at all for a 'chicks' book"
No idea, never read the print edition.
Again no idea, as I don't read many books of this style.
First one I've listened to by J Whelan.
This is essentially an action thriller with romance. The story is gripping and interesting. The performance was great, although I cringed a little at her male voice at times.
"Essential history of WW2"
Excellent account of history
I particularly enjoyed the years before WW2, the build up of the Nazi party and how Hitler got there in the first place.

50 hours well spent. I couldn't put this one down. If you have any interest at all in European history over this period I recommend this book.
"Even H. Bower couldn't make this one interesting"
The story was hard work. Hard to follow and retain even a small amount of interest.
Unlikely, unless I was convinced from a thousand reviews that it was worthwhile.
Great for narration
All of them
Disappointing. I bought this book because it had won an Australian literary award. I should have known awards don't necessarily mean the book suits my taste.
"Opens your eyes a little"
I would recommend this to my friends who are interested in politics or economics
I still wonder after reading the book how true it is. Really makes you think.
"One of Courtenay's top three"
Definately, this is an excellent Australian story
Danny Dunn, because he is the main character
Hard to pick a favourite, the whole story is excellent
"Essential reading while you're pregnant"
Great baby advice
Practical guidance on how to give your baby a good start in life
Good use of expression to make it interesting
