I think I probably read this when I was younger. I was surprised at how out dated the setting was and I guess I didn't remember it being so juvenile in the repartee. Kind of a dumb premis now that I listen to it. Not really logical that a phenomena would do what this one did. Also a pretty boring book all toghether.
Couldn't finish it. Every opportunity was taken to be snobbish in the writing. Not the characters, the writing style. Some of the snobbery didn't even make sense because the authors put pretentious words together that contradicted each other. And the basic plot/theme was really stupid.
Don't waste your time and money.
I f you are expecting an interesting listening, forget it. I listened through Chapter 8 and couldn't take any more.90% about sex and 10% story. This is the second time I have bought a book by a woman who seems sexually frustrated and works her problem out by writing about it and fantasizing.
What a waste of time listening to it. Kept hoping but everyt chapter same thing.
Please don't waste your money or time.
I kept hoping there would be something to this book. I should have known better. If you get half way through the book and it is dull and depressing and doesn't seem to have a point, then forget the cost of buying it and stop wasting your time.
If I hadn't been listening to this in my car, I would never have continued.
There is nothing redeeming about this book: poor plot overall and the climax of the book was so stupid and unbelievable - just not credible.
Mr. Andrews has a tough time with the English language. I have heard recent immigrants that can prounounce words better. Here again, the book is filled with contractions that he doesn't know how to pronounce. There should be a test for these narrators before they get the job and if there was, it was poorly administered.
Use your book dollars elsewhere.
Dark and slow. Narrator, again, doesn't know how to pronounce contractions - makes him sound like a little kid who has not learned to speak correctly which, I guess, is the case. Pronounces 'didn't as 'dent' and 'wouldn't' as ' wood dent'
Takes a long time to get anywhere. Spend your money elsewhere.
Narrator sounds like a young teenager that hasn't learned the correct pronounciation of contractions. Dopey reading. Not worth the sale price - not worth my time even if it was free.
Would have given it no stars if i could
Goes ok until until the hero gets called on the floor for doing what he was asked to do. Author continually goes over the top for the hero feeling sorry for himself. Not convnincing. Plot is too perfect for the bad guys and the top bad guy is a super human . This wasn't supposed to be science fiction.
Finally, the author kills a man up front with a .22 revolver but does it with a jacketed bullet. Anyone ever seen a .22 jacketed bullet (not a rifle bullet - a .22 revolver handgun)? BS and very poorly written. Obviously writting about something he knows very little about.
I didn't expect much from this book but it was surprisingly ineteresting, humorous and entertaining.
Half of this book was a woman's porno story - not worth the money or the time. every time i was getting interested in the plot, the author would switch to talking about some outfit the heroine was wearing or start talkiing about the heroine taking her clothes off and feeling herself.
Rediculous book. If I wanted porno, I would buy a movie. Stupid book
As much as I like the Elijah Bailey series of Asimov ( I have read them all), I won't buy any more from Audible because of the narrator. This narrator, what a duffis, can't pronounce any contractions that have a 'd' in them correctly. He also narrates other Audible books and I made the mistake of not checking the narrator before I bought this book. He is very annoying- sounds like a small child that hasn't learned correct English.
