The story harkens back to a previous story. but the suspense is kept on edge as the listener is required to scent the predator with all the science of a body examiner. A good story and ending. Just what i'd expect from Patricia Cornwell. Love her works.

Not what I expected. A very boring non-informative book about how to succeed in life using great chess masters winning moves. If i could have voted a minus three, I would have.

This novel by Carl Hiaasen, author of Tourist Season and Native Tongue, begins as most thrillers do, with a killing. But this is no everyday, hum-drum, garden variety killing. Our hero, Nick Stranahan, a 42-year-old private investigator who has killed five men and been married five times, skewers his attacker's aorta with the razor-sharp bill of a stuffed marlin.

In his final hours in the Oval Office, the outgoing President grants a controversial last-minute pardon to Joel Backman, a notorious Washington power broker who has spent the last six years hidden away in a federal prison. What no one knows is that the President issues the pardon only after receiving enormous pressure from the CIA. It seems Backman, in his power broker heyday, may have obtained secrets that compromise the world's most sophisticated satellite surveillance system.

A story that starts out great but has unexplained events that make you wonder "what happened". The ending is also a let down. If you can forgive that, it's still a good read, even with its dangling parts.

I was impressed with the information provided in this book about underwater diving and the discovery of a U-boat off our shores.

Another great book by Cornwell. Dr. Scarpetta is teamed with a police officer, who once was a detective, and they are involved in figuring out who the murderer was of three people. It brings Lucy (her niece) back into the tale. It involves a great discussion of forensics, intrigue, a trip to France, sex, and finally an ending you don't expect. A great listen, that I didn't wan't to pause.
