This book does not focus on getting to know characters trying to survive. It is all about the technical aspects of items needed in an economic collapse and warfare tatics. If you are making a prepper list then this book is for you. If you are looking for a book to draw you into a story then you might want to keep looking.
Gives good insight on what would be important in a distaster. I was pleasantly surprised that this book was written in the 50's - it didn't matter a bit. The needs of the characters would be the same in any decade.
This is simply the best book I have ever listened to. I normally like fantasy, thriller types but after all the reviews I thought I would give it a try. I have suggested this to all my friends on audible and all loved it!
My 14 year old daughter stayed up way too late many a night listening to this story, she just couldn't stop listening.
I am having my two teenagers listen to this book. It gives a real look at what the soldiers of WW2 faced on a daily basis. Just AMAZING how they came through it all. The author keeps the story going and you don't want to stop listening.
This story line has so much promise but it does not deliver. The author jumps around to different story lines without giving a clear reason for doing so. Many times I found myself rewinding to see if I had somehow accidentally fast forwarded. This is one of those books that you are hoping the ending has some kind of meaning and at the end you find out that you just wasted 2 audible credits. I have never written a review before (member for 5+ years) but I feel obligated to warn others - if you are looking for a book that challenges your imagination, intrigues you with how it will end, and surprises you with how the characters figure out the solution- don't buy this one!
