It was very hard to take a break from listening to this excellent story. Not only are the intimate scenes hot and fulfilling, but there is actually an exciting, intriguing and mysterious thriller story as well... yes a STORY! I enjoyed it even more because of this. But lets not forget, the sex scenes are everything you could hope for! Because the characters are carefully built up to this point, it is even more of a pay off.

Excellent writing, and wonderful detective story! It keeps you guessing who is the real killer till (almost) the last moment. The main charater (Adrien) is very likable and the supporting cast is revealed as more than one dimensional. I was slightly thrown when the story ended before any action between Adrian and his love interest (I won't spoil it!), only to discover that there is a second book.I can't wait to get it now! Laynon shows that he is up there with the other great crime authors. The fact that he also adds in steamy m/m romance is a big, big bonus. I will definately be searching out other books by him. Patton also gives a great performance.

A very horrific couple of murders committed by this serial killer couple, written in a classic true crime style. I definitely enjoyed this book, however I was left wondering why the author chose to focus almost exclusively on the female of the pair, Judith Neelly. I think its possible that she played a very important role in the murders as the author has presented, but I was left wondering about her husband's part. I take it that the evidence of his guilt was not straight forward, but I would have rather heard the author's discussion of his life and crimes, and what part he may have played, rather than focusing exclusively on her guilt. Even so, the author presents a convincing story about Judith Neelly's culpability

This audiobook ultimately rated 4 stars, although I did have some issues with it. However for the most part I was enthralled by the narrative of Gacy's defense lawyer's quest to give his client a fair trial. Most of it was extremely well written, and both interesting and engaging, even for someone familiar with this case. I found myself more interested in the defense lawyer's experiences than I would have expected. It is a bit of a shame that only a couple of murders were dealt with in any detail, although one senses that the authors wanted to refrain from repeating what had been written many times before. The book could have done with some editing most notably the last 2 hours which almost exclusively dealt with the closing arguments of both defense and prosecution. This entire section could have been cut, and made me less enthusiastic about a full star review. Another point I found irritating was the constant repetition of the author's argument that Gacy deserved a fair trial. I thought that the authors made a rather convincing and elegant argument in the introduction, based on the American Constitution's insurance of a fair trial for everyone, no matter how repugnant (as Gacy was). But the authors return again and again to re-word this argument and it beleaguered the point. I couldn't help thinking: Sir, thou doth protest too much! However the absolute BEST thing about this audiobook was the standout performance given by Robin Bloodworth. His portrayal of Gacy's confession to his lawyers was outstanding and riveting. He must surely have studied Gacy's affectations as he nailed it perfectly. On the whole this was an excellent book, and well worth the listen. Recommended!

This is one of the better Dianne Fanning books I have listened to in a while. Story was well written and the narrative well formulated. The performance was also very good. On the critical side, It was quite biased in parts and I wish that there had been an updated section on the developments of this case in the last couple of years. However it presents a good detailed starting point for anyone interested in the case.
