Based on more than 40 interviews with Jobs conducted over two years—as well as interviews with more than a hundred family members, friends, adversaries, competitors, and colleagues—Walter Isaacson has written a riveting story of the roller-coaster life and searingly intense personality of a creative entrepreneur whose passion for perfection and ferocious drive revolutionized six industries: personal computers, animated movies, music, phones, tablet computing, and digital publishing.

    Story

I never owned an Apple Computer or a MAC, but I found this history of Steve Jobs to be a fantastic listen.

Anyone that has loved technology over the years should listen to this book. It was extremely interesting to learn about his relationship with Bill Gate and Woz. After learning about how he developed products I worry about Apples future and thank god I wasn't an engineer that had to pitch an idea to him.

I think Steve Jobs will be studied in business courses for years to come.

When Chaz Perron's wife discovers that he is running a scam (posing as a marine biologist to doctor water samples so that an agribusiness tycoon can continue illegally dumping fertilizer into the Everglades), he pushes her overboard from a cruise liner. Unlucky for Chaz, Joey survives clutching a bale of Jamaican pot. Rescued from the Atlantic by a former police officer, Mick Stranahan, she decides not to report him but instead haunt and taunt him, with Mick's help, by playing dead.

What would have made Skinny Dip better?

The story was not very believable. The characters were weak.

Would you ever listen to anything by Carl Hiaasen again?

    Probably not.

What three words best describe Stephen Hoye’s voice?

    He was OK.

    Any additional comments?

For me it was like a one hour TV drama. It had a weak story that had to be glued together by convenient events that just flowed together without any story development.

Most people think 15-year-old Charlie is a freak. But then seniors Patrick and his beautiful stepsister Sam take Charlie under their wings and introduce him to their eclectic, open-minded, hard-partying friends. It is from these older kids that Charlie learns to live and love.

What did you love best about The Perks of Being a Wallflower?

The narrator was very good in this book. I cannot think of a better narrator for this story. The story was also very good.

    Any additional comments?

I like stories that make you think and worry about the character. I don't like Rambo type books where the main character is a black belt in karate, happens to be an excellent marksman, and is an undercover secret agent. This book has none of that. It is a story of a kid trying to deal with life and relationships. The main character is well developed and presented. It is worth your time.

Given the importance of what they do, and the controversies that often surround them, and the violent people they sometimes confront, it is remarkable that in the history of this country only four active federal judges have been murdered. Judge Raymond Fawcett has just become number five.... Nothing is as it seems and everything’s fair game in this wickedly clever new novel from John Grisham, the undisputed master of the legal thriller.

Thirty-five years ago, Mario Puzo's great American tale, The Godfather, was published, and popular culture was indelibly changed. Now, in The Godfather Returns, acclaimed novelist Mark Winegardner continues the story, the years not covered in Puzo's best-selling book or in Francis Ford Coppola's classic films.

What did you love best about The Godfather Returns?

I loved reading about characters that were just minor people in the original series.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes by doing great tie ins to the original story.

    Any additional comments?

Great add on to the original story

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If you like the Godfather books this is a must listen.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked the development of the characters that only had bit parts in the movies. Some character I don't remember at all from the movies.

Have you listened to any of Scott Brick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

The first God Father sequel. They were both very good

Libby Day was seven when her mother and two sisters were murdered in "The Satan Sacrifice of Kinnakee, Kansas". As her family lay dying, little Libby fled their tiny farmhouse into the freezing January snow. She lost some fingers and toes, but she survived, and famously testified that her 15-year-old brother, Ben, was the killer. Twenty-five years later, Ben sits in prison, and troubled Libby lives off the dregs of a trust created by well-wishers who've long forgotten her.

What made the experience of listening to Dark Places the most enjoyable?

It had a good story that had a few twists. I didn't figure it out early so that is a good thing.

Who was your favorite character and why?

It is the story of a girl who survives the murder of her entire family. It is told by her, so she would have to be the favorite character.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I listened to it as I commute. Not something I would listen to in one sitting,

Would you try another book from Nora Roberts and/or Julia Whelan?

I don't like stories that cop out with characters that just happen to be real life super heroes. Not the cartoon type, but ones that just happen to be overly smart, sharp shooters, rich etc..

It was OK but nothing I will remember two months from now. I liked the narrator.

I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily…Gideon knew. He had demons of his own.
