The aromas of wild thyme and Highland heather waft through Lochdubh, home to M. C. Beaton's eccentric policeman, Hamish Macbeth. Yet what the irascible constable smells in his latest case is the acrid scent of fear as an entire town is entrapped in something dark and deadly.... Yet as he deftly investigates the summer's high crimes and misdemeanors, he attracts the attention of his superiors. They feel a promotion and transfer will give him a larger playing field than Lochdubh. That's the last thing Macbeth wants.

I have been a very long Beaton fan. This one breaks a little cadence and has some more twists in it. If you like Hamish, you will love this one.

This is a fun one. IT's disorienting at first but wraps up nicely at the end. A fun alternate universe.

The Wheel of Time turns and ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the age that gave it birth returns again. For centuries, gleemen have told the tales of The Great Hunt of the Horn. So many tales about each of the Hunters, and so many Hunters to tell of. Now, the Horn itself is found: the Horn of Valere long thought only legend, the Horn which will raise the dead heroes of the ages.

I'm hooked. This series gets better and better. The detail is amazing, and as listener, must pay attention. The writer makes this world unfold into a beautiful tapestry. The reader's both do a good job. The first book having two readers was challenging, but I caught the tempo much quicker on the second. It is worth a credit to explore but start at the beginning!

Would you consider the audio edition of Doctor Who: Prisoner of the Daleks to be better than the print version?

All you Time Lords looking to expand on the Daleks, might want to check this out. The reviews were good so I took this on, and was quite pleased. It is a bit muckity muck starting but the second half of the book flies. The Doctor's beliefs are very torn in his actions and you see a deeper side of him through this. No spoilers here, mates, you should check it for yourself. I gave the performance five stars because he does have the doctor spot on. Well played my friend, well played indeed...

Thus begins an epic adventure set in a world of wonders and horror, where what was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Eye of the World to be better than the print version?

I have heard of this book and it's buzz for more than a decade. I liked Jordan's other works and decided to give it a listen. I was amazed. First off if you are looking for a casual book to follow this may not be for you. This world is tightly written, and even more thought out. so much is happening with so much detail, that you have to focus on it. Its worth the effort though, well worth it. The narrator is superb, and does a great job in seperating the characters. One of the best books of this genere I have ever listened too.
