It took me awhile to determine which narrator I liked, and in the end I'm glad I chose this version. Takes Holmes and Watson past the text, into personality and even idiosyncrasies. Brett is my standard, but I enjoyed this immensely.

Great writing and performance, but the most astounding thing about this work is that it is non-fiction. The statement about humanity is obvious, and well taken. It is the way the statement is made that is astounding. The author uses the outermost extremes of human behavior, good and bad ( or, maybe,breathtaking and horrifying ), sitting side by side, in the life of one man to say something about us. I had this on my ipod, and, at several points, stopped what I was doing and said, "No way" out loud. Don't pass this up, you will be doing your mind and your heart a big favor.

Really enjoyed this biography. It had a nice, moving line, which I thought seemed to reflect that life of the man well. Never not-interesting.

The narrator was a good fit for the gritty nature of Jack London, created by his life experiences, and the interwoven thread of sensitivity that any real artist is born with.

I enjoyed The Book Thief very much. The writing and the plot are wonderful, as it the idea in general. The characters were well presented and very funny, especially the children.

The narrator added to the quality of this book. The matter-of-fact presentation is just what is called for here, and the accent is nice, too. I like this version of death personified. I hope the real one is this feeling.

I must have missed it. Good performance, but I got more frustrated with the story as it went along. I enjoyed the writing style, especially a few particular scene narratives, but I was left with a "why did I do that? feeling". Not scary, just kind of weird.

The Conan Doyle writings are in my top 3 favorite books, have been since I was 15, and I'm a long way from that now. These are unabridged, so, of course, the story is 5 stars. The performance is really wonderful also. This narrator captures the spirit and that certain je ne sais quoi that exists in Holmes in my head. I am pretty sensitive to the breathing into the mike, or the spit rolling around in the narrator's mouth, or vocal fry. Whatever Mr. Griffin did was spot on for me, down to the last breath!

Just another reason to feed my Holmes obsession.

Enjoyable writing, creates a nice sense of the setting. Narrator lends a sensitivity that the main character seems to have in the writing. Not an amazing mystery or resolution, but overall a good book and performance.
