All it took was a flick of the wrist. A deft touch of his sword point and Drake the Dragon bared her bound breasts. Then with the heat of his hands along her skin, he bared her soul. All the wantonness Jacquelyn had denied herself as a famous courtesan's daughter, all the desire she'd held in her heart while running Lord Gabriel Drake's estate flooded through her at his touch. Not that she could let a bloody pirate know it. Gabriel may have left his seafaring days behind, but his urge to plunder was stronger than ever.

What did you like best about Pleasuring the Pirate? What did you like least?

I liked that it was a good old fashioned bodice ripper, just like the title suggests. What I didn't like was the performance. All the mispronounced words, the inconsistency of pronunciation and the fact that I couldn't tell one character from the other. Some of the characters spoke in dialect, and those particularly sounded uninspired and passionless. Really, if it's going to take place in olden days of England then use an accent, or hire one.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked Jack a lot. She's spunky, but oh so human.

Would you be willing to try another one of Megan Kelly’s performances?

    Nope.

Eight months. That's how long it's been since Eliza last saw Gage, and they both feel as if they don't deserve one another's forgiveness. He screwed up. She walked away without looking back. They'll try and make up all the time they've lost with one another, that is, until they're facing the choices of either going their separate ways, or hanging on and fighting for dear life. The fights will be endless. The heartache will be real. The demons will return, and they won't back down without a fight.

Wow, I was really hoping for better. This book is so dark, and the overall theme of too little too late prevails. A rocker romance with the worlds boring-est rock band. Again I find myself listening to simplistic problems, with obvious solutions, dragged through a teen aged girls diary. More dumb choices by the characters, and antagonists with no substance. Really, that's all you had to do to beat them? Why didn't you think of that 14 chapters ago? This book is so pouffy I'm not surprised that the ending was a cliché.

Eliza Smith has never been the one to seek a relationship. She's never dated a guy in her life, never even hugged a man (outside of her father/manager of the hot and popular rock band, FireNine) but when she decides to spend her summer on tour with FireNine, it all changes. Eliza really gets to meet Gage Grendel - her former crush from high school and the lead singer of FireNine - and witness sides to him to which she'll begin to truly despise. She'll ignore him, she'll dislike his ways, she'll do anything to try and stay away from him until Gage finally gets her to slip up and give in.

This book seemed very juvenile. I've read a lot of mixed reviews about it and decided to listen for myself. If the sex scenes were toned down it would be perfect for the YA crowd. The torturous angst-y depiction of the romance just made me cringe. The relationship pitfalls were so simplistic I lost all respect for the characters, feeling like they made dumb choices. The use of language made the characters sound much younger than their supposed 20-something ages. The story moved me enough to care about the characters and the cliffhanger ending sucked me into the next book hoping for more, fingers crossed. Really, though I didn't get a lot of "Rocker" feeling for this book.

Can't fault Veronica Meunch's narration, she delivered good discernibly different voices for the characters.

I have to say it was OK, but definitely not great.

I absolutely adored the story of Anne and Mal. Mal is funny and sexy and Anne is the perfect romantic heroine; needing a rescue, but strong enough to rescue him.
Mal is such a great character, I really recognized people I know in him. I'd have to say if I knew him in real life I would find him tiring, and that is exactly what makes Anne so wonderful. The way she found to accept and love him was amazing. It was beautiful to listen to the story and observe their romance blossom and grow.
The whole Stage Dive series to date has been a great listen, I'm totally waiting for the next two.
Andi Arndt does a great job bringing the characters to life, and giving them vibrancy and personality beyond the written word.
This book is light and amusing and something that can be listened to again and again. Totally worth a credit!

The stunning conclusion to the critically acclaimed series that has won thousands of fans! When a ruthless enemy finally strikes, Mia and Korum will face the biggest test of their relationship yet. But it's Korum's own secrets that may ultimately tear them apart. From the beaches of Costa Rica to a planet in a distant galaxy, theirs is a love story that may change the world...

The development of Mia kind of worked for me, but Korum felt very one dimentional, and the love scenes were dull. There were some interesting tangential story lines in this one but I think the affair is over, it seemed like the author lost interest in the story and it felt kind of flat. "Close Remembrance" is closer to forgettable.

Andrew Yancy - late of the Miami Police and soon-to-be-late of the Monroe County sheriff’s office - has a human arm in his freezer. There’s a logical (Hiaasenian) explanation for that, but not for how and why it parted from its shadowy owner. Yancy thinks the boating-accident/shark-luncheon explanation is full of holes, and if he can prove murder, the sheriff might rescue him from his grisly Health Inspector gig (it’s not called the roach patrol for nothing). But first - this being Hiaasen country - Yancy must negotiate an obstacle course of wildly unpredictable events with a crew of even more wildly unpredictable characters.

I did not like the narrator. His voice and accent made me thing the character was a very old man, far past the age of chasing dames and solving crimes. This ruined the story for me.

However, she gets sidetracked when the sexy, sultry son of Satan, Reyes Farrow, moves in next door. To further complicate matters, Reyes is her main suspect in an arson case. Charley has vowed to stay away from him until she can find out the truth... but then dead women start appearing in her apartment, one after another, each lost, confused, and terrified beyond reason.

Where does Fifth Grave Past the Light rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This novel is in my top 5 favorites. It has all of my favorite elements, sass, suspense, surprises and salubriously sinful sex!

What other book might you compare Fifth Grave Past the Light to and why?

I would compare it to Molly Parker's "Nice Girls Don't" series of novels. There are some compelling parallels, with the main characters both being supernatural beings, surrounded by human family, fighting for right, and finding alluring men.

What does Lorelei King bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Lorelei King does an excellent job vocalizing each of the characters. She imbues each one with life and character to fill out the written personality.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

She knows the pathway to Heaven, he knows the pathway out of Hell. Can they find a pathway to each other?

    Any additional comments?

I listened to this story a couple of times so that I was sure I didn't miss any of the nuances. This is a very interesting story that keeps me asking questions. I can't wait until all of the loose ends come to a conclusion. ..but then I will long for more. I really love this character.

Maybe it was the Shenanigans gift certificate that put her over the edge. When children's librarian and self-professed nice girl Jane Jameson is fired by her beastly boss and handed $25 in potato skins instead of a severance check, she goes on a bender that's sure to become Half Moon Hollow legend. On her way home, she's mistaken for a deer, shot, and left for dead.

What did you love best about Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs?

It was funny, romantic, mysterious and encourages a righteous wariness of librarians with fuzzy brows, and self interested motives. This makes a sweeping run at all quadrants of my literary palate.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jane. she is so relatable, even though she becomes a mythical creature. You know there are some days in your life, when looked at from a different angle, totally resemble being shot, bitten by a hot vampire, turned into a vampire, haunted by your favorite aunt, knowing sibling rivalry continues after death and all of it is subjected to nosy personal questions by your mother.

    Which scene was your favorite?

When Jane was reunited with aunt Jetty it was creepy and comforting all at the same time.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I love how passionate Jane is about her dog.

    Any additional comments?

Snark is an art. This series is really wonderful and so funny. Molly Harper has created a realistic world and Amanda Ronconi's delivery turns it into a place where a person can get lost for hours at a time.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the premise of the story. The alternate world, the interesting ways people live in the story, all imaginative and interesting.

What about Bronson Pinchot’s performance did you like?

I loved Bronson Pinchot's little southern girl. I found her believable, he totally made her come to life. Every time I heard him voice her character it made me smile.
